Kerning / spacing issue with Adobe font Minion Pro in Essential Graphics
There is a problem with the Adobe font family Minion Pro, when working with it in the Essential Graphics panel. In version 14.0, Build 116, there are issues with kerning and spacing control for this font. Specifically, when I try to create the lowercase word "fly" on the screen, the "f" and the "l" are being seen as just one single character rather than two individual characters. As a result, the two letters are condensed together and cannot be separated. In fact, the kerning adjustment for those two characters (seen as one) is greyed out. The same issue occurs with any similar normally tightly spaced letters, such as with "fl" or "fi". Also, regular Minion font does not have this problem-- only the Pro version. Not sure if there are other fonts with the same issues. I tried several sans serif fonts like Helvetica and Arial, though they did not exhibit the same kerning issue. Also, other serif fonts like Times appear to work correctly. The only workaround I see is to build each letter on it's own separate layer and then adjust the positioning of each layer so it all looks correct together. But definitely an issue that should be fixed, if possible. Thanks!

Thank you for the update, James. Good to know!
Thank you for your feedback here. We try to read and consider all the topics we get from users.
What you are seeing is a feature of certain fonts where they give you ligatures for characters that can fit together as one like Th or fl ... We have an open feature request to turn on/off ligatures for fonts that use them. We'd like to implement that when we can.
For now, you may have to choose a font that does not use ligatures.
