Unknown error while loading the motion graphics template
After Effects version : 17.0.6
Premiere Pro version : 14.1
I updated Premiere Pro and AE recently and started getting the error "Unknown error while loading the motion graphics template" when I tried to add an Essential Graphics template I made in After Effects to my sequence.
Template was made in a previous version, so I exported it again with the latest AE. Still getting that error, and it does it for every template I create.
I proceeded with a complete uninstall of Premiere Pro and AE, but it kept giving me an error after I installed them back.
I "solved" the issue by going back to Premiere Pro 14.0. I did not have to revert AE to an older version.
So it seems like there is a compatibility error between Motion Graphics Templates and Premiere Pro 14.1.

Thx, that worked!
Are you on Windows? One other thing you may need to do is to change the location of the Motion Graphics Template Media folder closer to the root. You can change this in the Project settings. Windows has a 260-character limit for file path names and when the Mogrts get unpacked in this folder, there is a folder with a very long unique ID that gets created. This can really tip the file path over the limit for the Windows OS. Moving the folder closer to the root folder will usually resolve this.

TLDR: Changing the name (shortening it) of the mogrt in Premiere solved the issue for me.
I created several mogrts in After Effects (22.3.0 build 107) and imported these in Premiere (22.3.1 Build 2). But when I tried to put those mogrts on a sqeuence I got the same error (Unknown error while loading the motion graphics template). Except one of the mogrts just worked.
I tried for 2 hours to get the others mogrts to work, and eventualy I just changed the name (I made them shorter) of the mogrt in Premiere and that fixed it for me.
Jonas Almeida, I will send you an email and I'll take a look at the mogrt with which you are seeing the issue. This should not happen.

Still having same issue now on PR 22.3.
I believe mogrts are not friendly across versions. That's it.

What you want to do, is go to file, save as, and make a new folder destination for your project to be saved in. Then you should be able to drag over your graphics template.

Just had the same "Unknown" error importing a MOGRT file into Premiere 14.1.0. I had used the Linear Color Key, in After Effects, when creating the MOGRT.
Swapped this effect for Keylight and it now works fine in Premiere.

I have the same issue, and I notice that it happen when I use the liquify effects in AE, so after I remove this effect it works again on PP 14.1, anyway the same MOGRT work perfect on CC2019 13.1, so it look like some AE effects cause the issue, please adobe fix this issue ASAP since it broke a lot of old MOGRT and project special that MOGRT sale on adobe stoke.
Edit: also I found the AE scribble effect causes the same issue
For anyone else who is hitting this: there is a known issue in Ae 17.0.6 where certain effects (lots of third parties, some Ae effects) are resulting Adobe Media Encoder not to queue the desired composition from Ae. This also affects Mogrts to fail when applying them in Premiere Pro 14.1. In this case, reported by Cedric, it hit the Linear Color Key. We are working on a fix! Current suggested workaround for users that rely on affected effects is to roll back to Ae 17.0.5, Pr 14.0.4, AME 14.0.4
Hi Cedric! Thanks for filing this. I will reach out so I can hopefully look at that mogrt and see what is going on.
