Better CPU Usage when Exporting
I, also, have the same deep disappointment that Adobe does not utilize a multi-core system when Exporting video(H.264, encoding and such). I have a 2018/2019 MacBook Pro i7, 32GB RAM, Pro Vega 20 graphics, also connected to an eGPU Radeon 580x 8GB RAM enclosure connected with Thunderbolt 3, also have an M.2 Enclosure housing a 2TB 2800mb/ps connected thunderbolt 3 to port two on my Mac that keeps cache files, auto-saves, and backups. I keep all media files on a Sandisk 2TB Portable SSD, so should have absolute zero speed related issues references files. They all have separate drives that are very fas. When I export from Premiere Pro itself, while watching my CPU usage in Activity Monitor I noticed it really never uses above 25-30% CPU usage, RAM usage never goes above 15-18GB, even though I have set it to set aside 29 of the 32GB of RAM available for performance. Though, while exporting a video during majority of the export, the CPU is sitting idle at about 75-80%!! WHY? Why can't The software utilize the system? How do I put my system into overdrive to force it to use 100% of my CPU while exporting video? I don't understand. Though, one thing I will add is that one effect I use dramatically increases export times is NeatVideo Denoiser Plug-In. It takes me over 45 minutes to just to render the effects on about 7-10 clips(Roughly30-45 seconds) to be able to play the video back. But all settings are set to utilize the GPUs when possible. But even worst, it takes upwards to 1-2 HOURS to export a 2-minute 1080p H.264 Video. My biggest question is WHY DOES MY CPU ONLY SHOW THAT IT IS BEING UTILIZED A MERE 20-30% when it is undergoing arguably one the most extensive and taxing tasks a computer can handle, which is, video editing. No setting I change ANYWHERE improves performance in any way that I have tried, Trust me, I have been researching as much as I can on this topic and have been trying everything I can. The only thing that I have come to realize is that Adobe Media Encoder actually does a better job at exporting video. It actually uses around 40-60% CPU on average, but only 10-11GB of RAM was being used from what I saw according to Activity Monitor. Still not impressed at all, but it did cut export time on the same video down to about 45-50 min. I do not think it should be taking that long, especially since my computer is basically sitting idle the ENITIRE F@&*#NG TIME! Ridiculous! Seriously will be switching to something else to find something better. Final Cut is looking better and better. Kind of wish I would have started with it to be honest. I don't believe I would be having as many issues as I have had with Adobe. But besides that I really wish there was an answer for the lack of CPU usage/utilization while exporting, since exporting and encoding are all CPU dependent and all. Anyone have an answer for this?
