Dynamic Link between Premiere and After Effects is a complete failure
Even in 2020 Dynamic link is far too unstable to even consider using in a professional workflow.
The ratio or times I have tried to have simple text only comps from AE in a Premiere timeline for just one crash to make dynamic link between the two forever again unable in the project is 100%.
A single crash causes enough mayhem that the next two hours are spend searching in the void for solves.
Restart.
Rename the Dynamic Link Server folder.
Delete all the linked comps. Import again.
It's never the same.
If you can even get the projects to open again.

AWFUL a shambles! Im so fed up with it all. Constant crashing, constantly going offline for no reason - so many issues I cannot be bothered to list.
It has been like this since version 14 and all the issues have been covered here. I am always submitting crash reports. Why has it it never been fixed?

Even in 2021 it's a problem. Mine only seem to work if I have Premiere OPEN now. THis used to be a problem a few versions ago, but as of today (Mar 17 2021) it's back. Dynamic link now can't connect. I'm not asking for help, I just wanted to post this to save others time if they're pulling their hair out under deadline because CC screwed them again. Try opening the premiere project you have linked and it might just pop back in....I didn't need to reboot or any of the other nonsense.
"Dynamic Link is used daily in demanding professional workflows"
None of the stations I work with will touch it and I'm slowly migrating away as well...I just have a lot of time and money invested so I'm stubborn holding on hoping they somehow get it right one day.My current system is a couple years old 6700k, 64GB Ram, M.2, SSD cache, GTX 1070 can't even render 4k files real time, it needs to render in/out constantly killing time. EVERY OTHER PROGRAM works just fine and I mean every single one. To avoid any "it's your system BS" I'll also mention that I have 3 other systems at work and home and they ALL behave this way. Adobe's render engine is crap and it's likely not going to get better any time soon.

Every company I've worked at refused to use it!

I'm also curious if you've considered using the Motion Graphics templates workflow for your text titles. You can create editable packaged AE Projects (.morgts) and edit them right in Premiere without having to bounce back and forth. 99% of them are rendered by a Tiny Inception AE inside of Premiere Pro and are shareable across, slack, emails, servers, and CC Libraries.
Here are a few resources if you're curious about how to get started:

Dynamic Link is used daily in demanding professional workflows. Let's see whether we can get it to work, for you.
Do you have the current versions of both PPro and AE installed? Specifically, which folder are you deleting? Do you get any different (hopefully, better) behavior, when using the auto-saved versions of the projects, open during the crash?
Restarting your OS after a crash = great idea.
