Major Bug With Speed Ramping
There is a major issue with Speed Ramping in the latest version of Premiere Pro 2020. I am unable to play back a simple clip that has a speed ramp applied to it in real time without pre-rendering it. When trying to playback a clip that is speed ramped, it turns into a glitchy mess, and the remaining clips that follow never start playing as they should unless I pause and restart the playback. This was never an issue in Premiere Pro 2019. I have re-downloaded PP2019 where the issue is no longer present.
I have found that it seems to be only while using CUDA renderer. If I disable and use Software Only, it seems to playback better, but that sacrifices a lot of performance.
This has been an issue for months now, and I have seen many people complaining about this same issue, but I don't know that it has been mentioned much on this forum.
My computer specs are as follows: Intel i9 9920X 12 Core Processor, RTX 2080 TI graphics card, that should be all you need.
I have never had an issue with this until PP2020 was released. Please fix this issue as my entire workflow is hindered due to this issue.
Thanks in advance, please feel free to ask me any follow up questions, I have tried to be as thorough as possible at explaining what is happening.

Same issues in 14.6 when speed ramping clips cut out or disappear on playback in program monitor and in rendered file.
Temp fix that works for me - go to file/project settings/General and change renderer to software only

I have had a post on Adobe Forums addressing this issue since last November, still no resolution. https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/speed-duration-playback-issue-in-premiere-pro-2020/m-p/11213109?page=5#M277428

I have the same issue. Whenever I try to do ramps over 300-500% increased playback speed for footage shot in XAVC HD 59.94 from my A7III. Also, if i push the clips up to +1000% i'll sometimes loose entire sections and it will start jumping around to frames from totally different sections of the clip. Anyone else getting this?
I feel like my only way to circumvent this might be to transcode all of my footage that I intend to speedramp over to cineform or prores first. Which sort of negates having a $5k laptop capable of editing quickly on the go, without transcoding.

I am also having this same issue. using XAVC HD at 59.94 fps. H.264 4:2:0 and once I start to actually attempt a speed ramp over 100% speed the video playback in the timeline freezes on the first frame of the speed ramp. also in 1920x1080

I've been have having the exact same issue since 2020 was first released. The issue still persists in version 14.0.1. Using 2019 is the only way I can get any work done.
How is this still an issue???

@pruth I responded to your email, but here is what I wrote in response to this quesiton.
It seems to be with any codec I use, I have been working on 1920x1080 compositions. My frame rates are typically 60fps and interpreted as 23.976fps to achieve smooth slow-motion.

Can you tell us about the media used here. Is this H.264/HEVC? frame rate? frame size? or does it happen for all types of media? A screen recording showing this issue would help us also.
