Any speed change that brings a clip over 100% speed results in choppy playback.

Same issue in 2021
I have had this issue for almost 2 years now waiting for a fix. I had this issue on my MacBook Pro, Windows PC. Same with Canon Footage or iPhone Footage. I tried everything from switching to other Codecs, Proxys, Windows reinstall, upgrading RAM, different GPU Drivers. Since Speedramping is becoming more and more important to me, im switching to DaVinchi, because there is nothing more left to do and Adobe doesn't seem to care. -

Hi, a video I found online to help with this speed/duration issue within Premier Pro CC 2020.

Major issue - doesn't just happen when speed ramping, but also shuttling at any speed beyond 100%! I just shelled out a lot of money for a new system so I can use CC 2020 and I have to downgrade to 2019 because of this. Hurry up Adobe and sort this out please!

Sadly still very much an issue a year later. How are these considered pro tools when they can't even do basic functions for a year?

Nikolaos' solution works!
Disable hardware accelerated decoding and try again.
Thanks man -

Allow me to add that even when the playback seems to be ok (don't understand what affects this, but restarting the program sometimes works), the export comes out choppy. So frustrating!!!!!!! Come on guys!

The fact that this glitch continues to be left unfixed is truly shocking. Who is running the Premiere ship over there??

I´ve been using 2019 version since day one of 2020 release. Impossible to work with speed changes. Compained several times in adobe suppoprt chats and forums Here is a little video clip describing the problem. I am so gonna publish this on youtube. It is enough. No more fancy features updates no one uses. Correct what once was good and now it is wrong.

Quentin you could always try to downgrade your project by hacking the .xml inside the .prproj : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8ecJNJsnn8

UPDATE: ADOBE RESPONDED TO ME
This is what they had to say, basically...
"We know, just use 2019."
This includes having to backtrack to 2019 versions of premiere, after effects and media encoder. Sorry but... it's 2020. How did they break such a crucial component that so many of their creators use. No "sorry for your inconvenience", we get to spend a bunch of money for software they seem in no rush to patch.. Goodbye to everything I started in their 2020 version of premiere.

Same problem here.
Temporary solution of Ewan Fletcher works, where you need to render the clip.
