BUG: Editing long videos (typically > 40m) Premiere will stop responding to user input after a short time
Premiere will function normally when editing a long video but after some time (around 5 to 10 minutes) the timeline cursor will flicker rapidly and all user inputs on the timeline won't function unless zoomed all the way out. I've seen this problem reported by other users but not on this website. The only temporary solution is to close and reopen Premiere which takes away valuable time I could spend editing.

Hello, I just wanted to say that I'm having exactly the same issue. I work on a video, it becomes more and more unresponsive and slow with time and this happens! Flickering, not responding. For me it was a 3-min long video, but I had many many video clips imported (it was a highlights edit with a lot of footage) and lots of audio as well.
Can I ask you for some basic details about your machine and what kind of footage do you use?
Windows 10 PC
Intel Core i7-8700K
32 GB RAM
Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti
Audio files - all WAV
Video files - mostly H.264 (simply can't afford to transcode everything, it's archival stuff), combines with some DNxHD
I don't edit movies so it's not like one clip means one take. My footage varies a lot, from a few seconds to several hours. Sometimes I use one clip from the file, sometimes there are multiple clips that I use from the file.
