Set to frame height or width
At the moment one can only automatically set the size of an image to the frame size of a sequence. It would be useful to have the 2 added options of setting to frame height or width, since one often works with images that are at different aspect ratios to the sequence.

Yes. Particularly with the way everything now has to be done at various aspect ratios for social media this is a glaring omission.

Yes!!!
This is something a think A LOT of people need, they just don't know it.For example when editing videos for different social media platforms. The original footage might be 16:9, but the delivery is requested in 16:9, 4:5 and 9:16 to fit Instagram stories etc etc.
If the footage is in 6k 16:9, the quality is completely ruined if you use scale to frame size in a 9:16 (1080x1920 or similar) sequence (since it scales the footage horizontally to match, not vertically). What you could do is of course set to frame size instead, but then you end up with a unnecessarily slow timeline.
Until we have a solution, ironically, the best option is actually to work with all vertical versions in horizontal sequences, and then crop it to the right aspect ratio on export.... :/
Seems like a simple function to add for Adobe?
Just like Marc posted, replace "scale to frame size" with two options:
- Scale to frame height
- Scale to frame width
