Why can I shift (drag) select but not shift (drag) deselect
Selecting clips is great using shift and dragging to select large sections of a timeline but there is no ability to deselect in the same way.
Obviously you can shift click to deselect but if large amounts of clips need doing the frustration of mis-clicking and finding a cut in between two clips and cancelling the selection all together is rather annoying.
It would be great to have the ability to deselect clips similarly to shift-drag, maybe shift-cmd/ctrl-drag would work.

This feature is now available in PPro Beta 22.6 x10 and later builds.
You can select and target multiple source or target tracks by holding down CMD/CTRL as you click and drag the cursor across multiple track buttons in the timeline panel. Whichever action is performed on the first track — turning on or off — will be applied to all of the tracks during the dragging action. You can drag through any number of video and audio tracks
Holding down CMD/CTRL + Shift while dragging will invert the targeted selection.

seriously, this is absolutely bonkers how they have their selecting and deselecting track functions. How has this not been addressed lol

Holy **** Alex's comment just blew my mind 10 years of using this product and never knew that. Thank you for that.
I think It would still be helpful for it to perform as Windows explorer or most other applications work in that once you drag over the clips you want to deselect and release the click, it should also just deselect them. Adobe has a half baked feature, but would be better if it was in line with most other applications for consistency. -

This feature already exists (and has done for as long as I can remember). You're just doing it slightly wrong.
When you want to deselect multiple clips, hold shift and drag across the selected clips - this is what you're already doing but there's a crucial next step. Before releasing the mouse button, drag your curser away from the currently selected clips to an empty part of your timeline. This will deselect them.
