Restore MKV Format Support
Removing MKV Format support has a negative impact on the workflow of people that work with broadcasting software like OBS. Restore MKV support. Having native support for MKVs, even if they don't edit well without generating proxies, saves me a ton of time that I'd otherwise have to spend remuxing/transcoding files.

Influx for Adobe CC supports MKV https://www.autokroma.com/Influx
Send us your files samples so that we can see if we could support your particular codec !

MKV is widely used in the archival world. Removing MKV support from Premiere makes it an unattractive choice for users in that industry.

Removing MKV support is a terrible decision. MKV is the only format that won't corrupt if you have any issues while recording with OBS. MP4 is a really bad container that can't even contain lossless audio. MKV is important if you're doing podcasting and want to have lossless audio with compressed video. Premiere Pro can't take MKV, get yourself in 2021, Adobe amateurs.

Being investigated?!? Just how much do you expect people to continue to pay for your software with this kind of response. MKV is an incredibly useful file type, it is outrageous in my view just how pathetically slow Adobe is at responding and updating its customer base on issues such as these.

James, do prefer Handbrake to having OBS do the conversion?
-
James Thomas commented
This should be standard, anyone working with OBS absolutely needs this. From a development standpoint, you are making your customers go through an extra step having to download handbrake because you do not support this file type. Also in favor of MKV support since it's continual recording works vs the mp4 loss of file on recording interruptions.

Agree, big roadblock to producing content with Premiere Pro. OBS Studio is the go to for me. Need Pr Pro to pull in my recordings.

Add me to the list of people who need it.
I shouldn't have to go to an unvetted software company to cut down one of these files.

I use the .mkv format extensively. I probably won't renew my Premiere Pro subscription again until this is added back in.
