Bug: Smart quotes don't work with MOGRTs from After Effects
Smart quotes/apostrophes aren't working correctly. The smart quotes box is checked. Checking and unchecking makes no difference.
If I open the AEP that I made the MOGRT with, smart quotes work correctly when changing the graphic there. But using the template only gives me straight quotes.
Something seems to be lost in the exchange.
I tried re-creating the MOGRT from the AEP after I saw the smart quotes working in After Effects, but they still don't work with the new template file in Premiere.

I found that using a simple expression in the Source Text property allows me to replace the straight apostrophe with a curly one and opening quote and closing quotes with the same
myText = text.sourceText; // Layer's source text
.replace(/"\b/g, "“") //Opening Quote
.replace(/\b"/g,"”"); //Closing Quote

This is a really inconvenient bug. It slows down my workflow considerably, and I hope Adobe works to fix it soon.
Unfortunately, this issue is not fixed yet and runs way deep into conflicts with both OS platforms. 😿
I will definitely send an update when there is one.
And continued apologies for the extra headaches,

It’s 2021 and this is still an issue. Did you ever come up with a fix?
