Upgrade to Premiere Pro CC 2019 no longer supports HEVC h265
All my previous content shot in HEVC or created in AE come up as audio only. This worked in 2018. I can still save the files but Premiere Pro can no longer load or display them.
The OS level support for these codecs is gone.
Rather than create support for older formats, Premiere Pro will continue to invest in support for popular modern formats.

Wow this was super annoying to deal with! Shout out to Vitz- your method of running the clip through Adobe Rush worked like a charm to fix the glitches. I had a short clip shot on an iPhone that was skipping around and acting like a mess in Premiere, but after I exported that clip out of Adobe Rush and brought it back into Premiere, it worked fine. I'm using Premiere Pro 2020 btw and this is still an issue...

I have spent my first week with premiere pro figuring out why it cant even playback video I shoot with my iphone. And seeing people have been dealing with this H265 issue since 2018 is pretty, assuring.

since when HEVC h265 is an older format ? it was created in 2013 and last version is 2019 what the **** are you saying @ Bruce Bullis ?

Since when is h265 an older format? It's literally the latest available version of the MPEG codec. There is no newer technology at the time of this writing. Unless you're a time traveler, this makes no sense.
Perhaps you should let Apple know that they are recording video using old technology that becomes obsolete in the year 2032.

Having the same issue as everyone else. iPhone video plays extremely choppy and inserts a random frame every other second. I was hopefully that it was only a display issue but the problem is burned when rendering the file. Only way around it is create another file using a video converter, AME does not work.

HEVC video shot on an iPhone X fails on Adobe Premiere Pro 2019, glitches, audio playing then no audio playing, not displaying the rigth frame...

Same ISSUE - iPhone video continually restarts at the beginning of the clip whether it is in preview or part of the timeline. Just updated latest 14.0.1. I am having the same issue with Premiere Pro 2020. iPhone video continually restarts at the beginning of the clip whether it is in preview or part of the timeline. Only some videos do it and the ones that have problems always restart at the exact same points in the clip. I have not tried reencoding as CFR yet but I might have to in order to get the clip to playback smoothly.

Hi all. I was having same issues with the iPhone h.265 files, very choppy playback and sometimes even the wrong part of the clip was exported. I have found a solution though. Create proxy files and whilst editing don’t turn on the actual media, once finished then turn the actual media option and export only using the media encoder. I was able to edit 4k60 from iPhone 11 Pro using this method without issues but if I switched the original media and scrubbed the timeline, things used to get messy. The link for the edited video is below, hope this helps.

Can confirm this as well, not working in Premiere Pro 2020. Not sure if this was already mentioned here but it's not working due to the Variable Frame Rate recording of the iPhone. You have perhaps noticed that Premiere shows the FPS of the clip at 29,99 or 30,01 but never exact at 30,00.
I'm not sure why Apple decided to use VFR instead of CFR but it is what it is. I have found however that recording in h.264 does work in Premiere, no skipping or stuttering whatsoever. Still, it's a real PITA that we can't use h.265 files in Premiere Pro.
Good morning all,
Just a heads up for anybody that has an iphone 11 or is considering it, I'm having the same issues in this forum here. The audio is fine, but video is no where near correct. This is really slowing my work down which is no good :(
I commented 3 months ago and funny thing - no fix yet, however, I see a ton of software online that converts H.265 to H.264 codec (Handbrake, Acrock, etc. ).
Adobe Clip and Videoshop on my iPhone X are able to read and export HEIC footage perfectly. They even maintain the slow-motion frame rate! Surprisingly, only then, after I run my videos through these apps on my iPhone, Premiere Pro on my PC can read that footage (another workaround if anyone's is still stuck with this).
Step it up, Adobe! No one cares about Rush, fix Premiere! Lol
I'm also having an issue with files shot with my iPhone XS not working in Premiere CC 2019. I get sound and video but the video playback just bounces back and forth chaotically.
I experience the same issues with H.265 files from my Iphone Xr jumping/repeating parts of itself in the timeline. unable to see the whole footage.

I found a way to fix it. Download Filmr and choose the video file. When done, export it to your gallery then copy it from your gallery to your pc.All's good now isnt it?
It's now been 18 months since the iPhone X launched and brought the HEVC h265 codec to the mainstream. And STILL NO SUPPORT IN PREMIER PRO! I keep hoping that each update will fix the issue but it just keeps getting worse. I'm close to canceling my Adobe CC subscription and going with a different software.
Just installed the latest update. Still experiencing a glitch issue with iPhone Xs footage. When can we expect a codec fix?

Iphone X footage not working, very glitchy. For those who plan to edit Iphone XS footage, DO NOT PAY FOR PREMIERE. find another non Adobe program instead. Very displeased at Adobe's lack of concern in correcting this bug. Many others seem to be having the same problem.
I have the same problem, after importing files from iphone xs max in h265 the image loops and cuts! Adobe when you fix it ?? Premiere Pro costs a lot of money and does not work as it should! Will you give us the money back?
Why is this still not fixed? Incredibly Irritating as a paying customer to be unable to use the service.
