FR: Please fix the hull's leaks before redecorating the ship! (October 2018 v13.0)
The new October 2018 (version 13.0) release of Premiere Pro contains some very welcome new additions. Thank you for those!
However, I have to ask: did anyone, even a single PP user on this planet, ever request that a new home screen be added to Premiere?
While the new home screen might be an improvement over the old one, and some users will appreciate the new design, I doubt any serious editors would ever choose this 'fix' over the hundreds of real issues that need fixing.
The time and resources of your programming team are finite. That's why only a certain number of improvements can be added to each new version of Premiere. We understand.
What is very difficult to understand, however, is why management would allocate part of those precious resources on fixing something that didn't need fixing to begin with, at the expense of so many other things that could have been fixed.
IMHO, the resources spent on redesigning the new home screen would have been much better used on any of these:
-fixing the speed warp tool (to allow greater that 1000% speed ramps)
-fixing the Warp Stabilizer tool (to allow use without nesting of non timeline-sized media)
-fixing the Track Matte tool (so that it works the way it does in AE!)
-adding keyboard shortcuts to paste media into the same track it was copied from and/or paste to the highest selected track
...or any of the other dozens of editing pain points we experience on a daily basis and have been asking to be fixed for years!
Not seeing a fix for an especially painful pain point in yet another update is disappointing but understandable.
Not seeing a fix to something we desperately want fixed because staff resources were spent 'fixing' something that will have absolutely ZERO positive impact on our editing workflow is, quite frankly, insulting.
Please put yourselves in our shoes.
You have some excellent programmers. Please use their time and talents to the fullest by fixing what actually needs to be fixed first!
Once the leaks in the 'boat's hull' are fixed, by all means, redecorate the ship to your heart's desire!
I would really appreciate a response from any Adobe staff member, even if just to let us know that this message has been received and heard. Thank you!
Your message has been received and heard. :)
We’ve addressed at least some of the issues you’ve mentioned, and have been prioritizing stability and performance over new features for some time, with tangible benefits.
Please continue to report specific, persistent issues, and we’ll respond.

+1 for Track Matte Key!!! Why must I nest several times over to apply a track matte when the position is even a pixel off of centered?
