Open up Dynamic Link protocol to third party developers
Dynamic Link should have an API to let other software developers integrate their tools better to Adobe applications. This feature works so well because it is based on the concept of "frameserving", a proven IP network-based client-server model but adapted for a specific use operating in the local domain (under the same operating system).
If there was an API for third parties, theoretically, any aplication capable of rendering (or sending cached) image sequences at or near realtime could work as a server. Even applications not traditionally involved in film/video workflows could be plugged into this.

Our C++ Importer plug-in API (supported in Premiere Pro, Audition, Media Encoder and After Effects) is already used by several third parties to implement frame serving, as you've described.
