Vertical audio/video stacking into timeline
PLEASE PLEASE add a function that would allow users to grab multiple clips (audio or video) and stack them vertically into timeline. Ideally with a Command/Ctrl key

Thanks for raising this Andre Plante. Image, video and audio vertical stacking would be really helpful. It would be great to be able to drag directly from the project bin onto the timeline and have the option to stack. This feature is available in other programs - hope to see it in future.

This would be VERY useful when dealing with music stems. - grab all the stems and drop them in a sequence all lined up!

is this still not possible??

It's 2020 and I can't believe this isn't implemented. If I have a Zoom H6 and I have 6 audio tracks (L, R, 1, 2, 3, 4), I have to manually drag and drop each one onto the timeline and line them up, for every single track.
Can we not hold 'Alt' as we drag and drop to have these line up vertically rather than horizontally (default).

Audition allows for vertical stacking by hitting the ALT key while dragging clips into the multitrack session. It should be easy for Adobe to add this functionality.
Even if it was a separate dialog, like in After Effects (see attached image) that allows you to "sequence layers" or not. This would certainly be a time saver (even from having to take the extra step to do the Multicam Sequence work-around).
Give it a look, Adobe!
Thanks.

Hi Joseph. Thank you for your Multicam Sequence suggestion! I won't be able to try it till Monday using Stereo audio files, but it sounds like it'll work. It works with Single Channel files. This is a great workaround.
Thanks again!

Great idea to just have this built in, but if you wanted to do this now, you could always make a multicam and bring in the unnested version of it.
For example, if you have 5 audio stems...create a multicam by selecting the stems and use a Black Video or Transparent Video as your video file. Then create multicam sequence. In this case, the settings don't matter because you're not using the mutlicam except to stack layers. Just don't have it sync by Audio or then it may give you issues. Then, open the multicam in your Source monitor and drag just the audio into your timeline. Make sure the "Insert/Overwrite as Nests" button is turned off. Then just delete your multicam sequence. Boom!
Hope that helps

I'm with Andre and Mike on this. It'd be an option that would be greatly appreciated. This is great not just for audio files in different languages under a single piece of video, but even adding broll to video! It'd be like setting up a "poor man's" multiclip sequence.

This is a great idea! I need this for work. I have to edit a up 30 tracks of audio at a time and I need to add them into my timeline quickly. This idea would be such a time saving solution!
