Support Blackmagic RAW
Please add support for Blackmagic RAW .BRAW files as soon as possible! This would be a tremendous help to our workflow! .BRAW was released today: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/blackmagicursaminipro/blackmagicraw
Thanks for all the feedback. It’s pretty clear that we’ve got to look into the workflow using this format more closely, there are enough reports about gaps at this point to reopen this item. I’ll post more info about next steps shortly. In the meantime, a couple of questions are easy to answer:
- The plugin is designed for Premiere Pro. It currently doesn’t provide support for After Effects.
- It does work with AME, so if you want to use it for batch processing, that’s very doable
- If you’ve started a project with Autokroma, there’s no easy way to transfer it to be running with the new plugin.
Now please make it dynamic-linkable to After Effects - Thank you
Woooow! This was the lamest thing ever Adobe! This is by far some biggest bull**** I’ve ever heard. There is one company out there that really cares about customers - Black Magic! Using Davinci over a year, amazing software and support. It’s time for full switch.
How can 'we' (Adobe) improve Premiere Pro?
'Support Blackmagic RAW' (That's Native Support for all applications within Adobe)
RESOLED: "We’re delighted to let you know that high performance support for Blackmagic RAW is now available for Premiere Pro. (Even though we can't take credit for it, nor were we involved in the production of it, nor do we care about ever supporting it, here's a 'half-answer' that someone else came up with that we'll claim resolved OUR (your) problem. Now all of you... please just go away! Oh, and let us know How we can improve Premiere Pro anytime in the future. (smiley face)"
I find it funny that Patrick went Radio Silent, pretending that he was unaware that there even was an issue (even though it was the number one issue on Adobe's website) for a year, letting everyone get so frustrated that they all started to jump ship, and then when Blackmagic comes up with a partial solution (still no support for AFTER EFFECTS), Patrick Palmer comes out of nowhere like Dolores Umbridge as if he was on our side all along and acts like Blackmagic's work solves everyone's problem.
Patrick, you didn't solve the problem. UNRESOLVED!
I need this to dynamically link to AFTER EFFECTS.
Thanks for Nothing, Adobe!
Autokroma will have an After Effects solution shortly. And yes, Autokroma, a plugin that utilizes the GPU would be hugely appreciated.
The performance are pretty good. Who here would have an interest in a full GPU solution ? What's the use of decoding 8K at 100 fps ?
Knowing it would only be for previews / timeline editing, not for exports
> According to the press release I read, it is still limited to CPU only.
I think it's hybrid CPU - GPU because of the limitations of Adobe SDK
This is your solution? Really not good enough Patrick.
According to the press release I read, it is still limited to CPU only.
Using Blackmagic BRAW speed test on my machine shows that the difference between CPU only decode versus GPU decode for BRAW is 8x!
That’s a lot of performance to give up
What’s the problem with Premiere’s code that it can’t allow the plugin to access the GPU?
Thank you John. Blackmagic didn't precise it but their plugin is also working for Media Encoder
Autokroma is the only one who gave a **** about this from the beginning.
Blackmagic 'finally' came out with a plugin for Premiere Pro (thank you for that) and 'finally' came out with a BRAW viewer for WINDOWS (Don't know why that took so long... most of us use Windows). But I don't believe they'll come out with a plugin for Media Encoder or After Effects anytime soon.
Adobe, on the other hand, just plain doesn't give a ****!
Autokroma are the true heros in this scenario. They have already successfully developed a good plugin for Premiere Pro AND Media Encoder (installed on my computer and working great so far), and they're almost ready to release the BETA for AFTER EFFECTS, which is the ONLY reason I stay with Adobe at all, (Sorry guys. As ****** as I am at Adobe, Fusion can't do what AE can do).
If I were just editing with no special effects, I'd have just gone with Davinci Resolve all the way.
So the only solution for me is going to be Autokroma BRAW Studio.
THANK YOU AUTOKROMA. I will GLADLY give you my money! Please keep up the good work!

Erm I think the request for native support Patrick. You might wanna reopen this topic.
WOW. You waited till Blackmagic made it for you... That's sad.
What about dynamic link to AE? Does that work?
MD Hypern commented
What does that mean for exporting if no media encoder support. Will it still export via the one built into premiere?
Dave Edwards commented
The fact that Blackmagic has just released a plugin for BRAW import support into Premiere Pro says a lot of Adobe's lack of inaction. No After Effects or Media Encoder support so I'm still holding out for Adobe at IBC to announce native BRAW support in Adobe video apps.
Gavin Clark commented
Blackmagic just released a plug in to do it on their support page
good lord, why is this something we have to ask for
Markus Strömqvist commented
Is it worth it holding our breath until IBC 2019?

I think Patrick has probably turned off notifications for this post lol.
