Create Proxy Jobs in background?
Much like we need background rendering, it would also be nice to have the "Creating proxies" process happen in the background. Right now, if I'm creating a large batch of proxies, I have to wait for up to 20 minutes at a time while the "Creating Proxy Jobs" dialog box stops me from working. Kind of a waste of time, since I don't think it should be using ALL the processing power of the program just to create proxy jobs for Media Encoder. It would be great if I could actually do some work while this is happening.

This is a huge time waster in my workflow as well. I suppose that we could make changes that would affect the proxy jobs (like applying effects to the master clips), but this seems far easier to deal with in the case of proxies than a full sequences. Just assume we don't want to include any changes made after the 'create proxy' command was given. This could give me back so many valuable editing minutes!

You can work while the proxies are being created in AME, but you do have to wait for those jobs to be created and sent to AME for processing. It's the same when sending a sequence over to AME, you have to wait for that job to be created as it is, blocking all changes that might interfere with that job creation.
The difference is only the amount of jobs being created.
