Vertically align Open captions text against background box.
Please make the Open Caption text properly centered vertically against the background box and add the option to adjust it's position.

Some fonts just won't sit in the centre vertically, however Avenir works perfectly for those of you struggling :)
Please fix ... don't want to chase work-arounds

As Claire said:
"If you add a crop effect onto the subtitles, you can then crop the top of the box so the text looks centered in the background box. This is the best way I found to get around this until they fix it."
This just saved me! And I am now able to go to sleep to night! haha

I need this video completed in a few days for a 250 member staff training and the fact that I can't write simple professional captions in Premiere after hours of editing is frustrating, disappointing, and straight up blowing my mind. My background text doesn't justify down like most forum members, for whatever reason it cuts off on the last few letters no matter how long the sentence.

Same issue. Please fix this problem. An Adobe employee said this was a known issue back in December of 2017, and we still don't have fix for it. This is important, since it renders the captioning capabilities unusable.
Such a glaring, unacceptable bug in the software. This has been known for well over a year and nothing has been done in multiple new releases. So amateurish and poor from Adobe.
same issue! can't vertical align text with background box.
Not just vertical - I'm experiencing a glitch where the background block is about 25 pixels shorter than the captions within. Nothing I do seems to resolve the issue.
I have the same issue!
