Why can't I add frame hold to a graphic?
I added a Timecode effect to a graphic (Cause if I add it to an adjustment layer and crop, it will crop all of the videos under it on the timeline..)
Then I want to stop the stopwatch, so I want to freeze the last frame, but the option of Add Frame Hold is just greyed out..
Instead of an adjustment layer, have you tried using a transparent video? I think it would be perfect in your situation.
And also, I thought about Exporting the frame, but I want the video in the background to keep running, stop just the stopwatch.
So we're stuck with.. No ways to do that other than After Effects..
I hate the old fashioned way of Adobe to response and deal with problems. -"We decided that you don't need to add frame hold to that".. Trust me, I tried a lot of things before asking that.
I wanted to add Timecode effect to my video, on a secondary layer, so I did it with an adjustment layer, but then when I cropped the effect, it cropped all of the clips below that track. So putting that effect on a graphic layer worked, but I couldn't stop the stopwatch, cause I didn't have that option of freezing the frame of that layer. Just saying it was super simple to do with FCPX..
btw, there is no option to add a keyboard shortcut to "New Graphic".
Frame Hold options are not applicable (greyed out) for Graphics because Graphics are not based on media (with still or moving frame content) in the project. Graphics are more like video effects, or keyframes, if you will. So the frame you see in the Program Mon would not necessarily be held in the same way it is for Media clips. Your best workaround options are probably either:
(1) Animate the Timecode effect opacity down to 0 with a one frame duration at he frame where you want it to go away.
Or if you don't want it to go away, but want it to remain frozen with the Graphic it's applied to...
(2) Use Export frame button (or key command) in the program Mon to take a still shot of the frame you want, then put that next to the Graphic like you would for a frame hold segment.
