BUG: Essential Graphics Text cause Canvas Viewer to go Black
So I am getting a totally reproducible bug in Premiere Pro CC 12.1.2 (Build 69).
I have a graphical bug to do with the Essential Graphics Text causing the Canvas Viewer to go black. Sometimes the entire timeline goes, and sometimes just the Essential Graphics Text, and it happens when I attempt to change the contents of the text.
I do have a bug with an alpha and an adjustment layer with a video limiter above the text layer, but with essential graphics I continue to get the whole screen going black.
The only way to get it back is to restart premiere, and it will happen again later, though not always.
This is on a MacPro 5,1 with 32 GB of RAM and a GTX 970 with 4GB of RAM.
It is especially frustrating when combined with having to render audio to see multicam audio every time I restart.
Thank you for trying that. So it sounds like you may have a GPU specific playback problem. Separate from that, you may also have a display lag in CPU render mode. Rather than me just blaming it on your hardware or some other external factor right away, can you give me a little time to think about it and get some help from my colleagues? I've already shared some of your feedback with my team, but it doesn't sound like some specific bug we've seen internally so it will be hard to isolate the root cause.

I am trying it now on CPU Renderer, and it hasn't gone black, though it is almost unresponsive, with me not being able to see anything for long periods of time before I am able to see the text.
If it is the Video, I am running MacOS Sierra 10.12.6 with NVIDIA Web Driver 378.05.05.25f03 and CUDA driver 387.1.78
Thank you for letting us know. This feels like a GPU issue. Does it still happen if you switch to CPU render mode?
