Allow Proxies to Ignore Proxies Sound / Play Original Sound
Ran into trouble using proxies that were generated without the same number of audio channels as the original source. Developed a number of workarounds to compensate, BUTl..
...if it's technically possible would it not make more sense to play only picture from the proxies and sound from original sources. In the it's not sound that typically requires too much throughput. It's picture. So the idea here would be to kill several birds with one stone:
Eliminate the requirement for Proxy audio track counts to match those of the original -- in fact Proxies could be picture-only and save a bit of drive space. Would make the Proxy process a little more simplified. Fully understandable if, for technical reasons, this isn't easy or even possible.

I can imagine, for technical reason, this is not possible: perhaps playing sound from the original media requires the same throughput as playing sound + picture. But who knows.

A lot of my proxies got created without audio, I literally have to recreate them again which takes hours overnight...

Yes, this is extra important when the audio is from a master audio track, and the videos aren't using their audio anyway. It is particularly frustrating to find that proxies can't be reconnected because of the audio channel differences, even if the audio isn't used.
