Smart relinking of media
We often move back and forth between different computers and drives/RAIDs, and although we usually keep the drive and folder structure identical Premiere usually has to search for a few different media files to relink them before it can find the rest.
It would be interesting to see if it was possible to have Premiere do more on it's own to track down media. This could include:
• "Adding a drive" to the project file, so that Premiere knows in advance where to expect media files to be. And if media is copied to another drive, even on a second system, Premiere would know to look for that 2nd drive before asking to relink media (it would attempt to relink on it's own). So when two editors are exchanging project files, Premiere recognizes that it's on two systems and two drives that may have slightly different folder structures, and would attempt to relink accordingly.
• A "smart" link option where Premiere basically asks: "will I find all the missing media on THIS drive, even if it's not in the same folders as before?" And if you say yes then it will diligently search the new drive for all media and even if it's been moved around it knows to keep looking.
Even if these options take a little longer, it would still take less time then having to manually click relink each time.
