Please DO NOT eliminate the Legacy Title creator in future updates.
Adobe tends to update with only the highly skilled pro in mind. But there are many advanced amateurs like me who DO NOT want to lose Legacy Title creator.

The Legacy Titler has been retired with Premiere Pro 23.0 (released October 2022). Projects that contain Legacy Titles will automatically get upgraded to Source Graphics which can be edited inside the newer Essential Graphics panel. We did not take this decision lightly and had been working on a transition for many years. If you feel that you are missing functionality in Essential graphics, please file new feature requests or vote for existing ones. You can still use the Legacy Titler in versions prior to 23.0. Here you can find more resources to make the transition easier:

Exactly this! It’s so easy to replacing a title from the bin.
I was so excited to discover this when I came from Avid.
Create a master sequence as a template, build the necessary iterations of a graphic. Duplicate sequence, select clip, drag or right click to replace from bin. -

That's an excellent point James! The ability to Alt-drag-replace a title or clip on the Timeline with another clip or title that's already on the Timeline is sorely missing in Pr.Given the fact that EG titles only appear on the Timeline, not being able to Alt-drag-replace items on the Timeline with other items on the Timeline is going to become an even bigger issue once LT is axed (LT titles could always be Alt-drag-replaced from the Project window).
Here's a new Feature Request I just posted that addresses this concern, while expanding on the idea with an additional keyboard modifier for deciding on the fly which effects/keyframes are preserved - Clip A's or Clip B's:
https://adobe-video.uservoice.com/forums/911233-premiere-pro/suggestions/45640189-alt-drag-to-replace-clip-on-timeline-with-anotherI'd love to know what you think!

Many thanks to the team working to make Essential Graphics an effective Legacy Titler replacement. It has come a long way, and I have every confidence in Adobe developers to make it the best interface possible.
I will try to make the meetup tomorrow, but in case I cannot, I would like to voice the importance of the ability to ALT+drag to replace a Source Graphic in a timeline with another Source Graphic. Without this function, it is a clunky maneuver to drop a new SG, copy/paste the existing SG attributes to it, then delete the original one and maneuver the new one in---not to mention that if the original was connected to other clips with transitions, all those transitions have to be re-created... all this, when a simple ALT-replace was possible with LT, and so should now be possible with Source Graphics.
Best,
James -

In case it's of interest to anyone participating in this thread, I've compiled a list of 25 issues still present in Essential Graphics, along with links to related User Voice feature requests. You can take a look at the attached PDF.
Does anyone know of any issues that are missing on my list?
By being aware in advance of the various issues still present in EG, I believe we'll be able to have a more productive meeting tomorrow. -

@david freeman - the meetup is at 4pm UK time.

In london it is just too early to participate. I would need to leave my home at 4.30 am tomake the meeting with an edit machine in front of me. Please STOP the stupid idea of deleting the legacy titler. Fix it. Allow us NOT to upgrade premier pro to allow us to use it. Make a 'classic' version of pp for professionals. Stop fixing what aint broken. The new titling sytem will add hours to our workflow. It is awful. David Freeman. SwanMedia UK

I just checked the times and can't attend as it's 4AM in Ireland & UK. I really hope someone can give a demo of how seamless working with LT and the many issues with the text tool, in particular the slowdown of workflow on projects.

I agree with you 100% Andrew. I also much prefer the layout of the LT. Compared to the LT, the new EG panel doesn't feel optimized for several reasons I've pointed out in various feature requests on User Voice. Thankfully they didn't just cut LT all at once, giving us a transition period to adapt. It's curious that cutting the LT appears to be a necessity. There must be reasons for this that non-programmers like myself don't understand. With the LT soon to disappear, I see myself creating more custom MGRTS in AE. It's a good workaround especially if you want your titles to animate.

I think it’s become clear that the Legacy Title is favoured by a large number of Premier users.
That’s not to say that EG is bad, per-se. I’m sure some favour it and new users won’t know any different.
But the feedback on this forum over the years demonstrates how many customers still rely on LT for their workflow, finding it preferable and more user friendly. I have to say, I’ve been a Premier user for 20 years and have really tried to adapt to EG. Honestly, I don’t find it as useful or intuitive. To me, it’s always felt messier and clumsier. Of course, it’s perfectly functional and does what it’s supposed to, but it’s replacing something that was (IMHO) better…plain and simple. I think that’s what the backlash and frustration is about. Why have Adobe changed something that didn’t really need changing with something that’s not as good in so many ways?
Furthermore, it’s hard to understand why it needs to be retired. Surely it can remain with the option for users to drag it on to a hot key or icon? It seems like the simplest and most acceptable solution for all.
Adobe can continue investing in EG, improving that over time with user feedback, while maintaining LT for those who prefer it.
Is that something Adobe would consider?

@Joe DuPont from following this thread over the years a few things became very clear to me: Adobe does not care for Windows users very much. Adobe cares much less for users of the legacy titler. Any good software company would've created automatic tools to make the switch as seamless as possible, meanwhile I still couldn't create text like I usually did (afaik), plus every EG menu and imports from it are lagging. Removing something like this without adding automatic tools, plus officially killing support for any old Premiere versions back in 2018 are just enough reasons to switch to one of the many great (and often free) alternatives. "Use an old version if you want your feature but we won't speak with you again" is such a ****** way to handle customer support for one of the most expensive subscriptions for casuals.

The arrogance of moving forward with the elimination of the tool tool is SO disappointing. Sure, the tool could use some improvement but the way it works is simple and effective. I'm sure you are very proud of yourselves for writing some very cool new code, but please take a moment to stop patting yourselves on the back and listen to your users. The legacy tool works extremely well for me. Much better than EG panel. I don't need the built-in titler to do anything exceptionally complex. I have Photoshop and After Effects for that. I mostly need to do a lot of simple repetitive stuff often and quickly. You ***** with the title tool and you ***** - badly- with my workflow. You ***** with my workflow and you ***** with my livelihood.

We relay on a workaround with .prtls which makes everything pretty much automatic for us. I cant find a way to recreate it with Essential Graphics since its encoded in the project file and we cant import text from external source to essential graphics.
converting the titles is not an option because it reverse the orientation in Hebrew.

And no, some of the simplest treatments to simple titles just DO NOT upgrade to essential graphics at all well using your auto upgrade tool. YOU KNOW IT ADOBE. You are destroying efficiency and ease for the sake of what - bigging up your developers or some shady business deal with another supplier forced in the Adobe fold? If you INSIST on destroying an absolutely vital tool for the sake of ego, please let us know which bolt on titler tool will do the job as well as the now 'legacy' title tool - a tool which some believe your comrades have been quietly 'breaking' for quite some time now judging by the silly things the 'legacy' titler is doing. Even doing a simple clock (TV commercial ID - a legal requirement in the UK/Europe) requires a workaround - as simple forward slashes refuse to play ball and we need to create a separate window to put in the duration - try it..! Example SAA/MAXF037/020 - just TRY it Adobe.

The Legacy Title builder is much better than EG.
You either need to continue Legacy Titles alongside EG - to make ALL of your users happy, and save them THOUSANDS of hours of work.Or Adobe MUST make Legacy Graphics and EG 100% compatible. All of my shapes and text created in Legacy Graphics MUST convert perfectly into EG.

No that is not right. I know it is old coding but I use it hundreds of times per project and its' flexibility and clarity is a wonder.
Some of us DONT want to go 'over the horizon' with projects for TV or corporate - clients are scared of too much fancy stuff - especially if it looks too 'american'. I'm afraid the legacy titler, before you started to mess with it - was a good solid tool, easily understood, easily duplicated and transported from project to project. The new title tool is a mess, designed for single screen use only!! (whaaaat!) many many more keystrokes needed, and not all the functionality and ease of use retained. The new 'export' window was another example of 'simplifying' premier pro to pander to cat video makers. Professionals do NOT want to make cat videos. Not many of us work on one screen laptops. We need a tool which is solid, easy to use, reliable and light. Muscle memory in the fingers of hundreds of loyal PPro users over the years have paid for Adobe to expand. Now you just kick us in the face. I will NOT be upgrading Pro on any of our PCs when the legacy titler is gone OR that insane 'export' and 'new project' window is forced upon us. Like many we will be looking elsewhere for our editing/finishing tools. -
Thanks, 한솔 오 . I'd be interested in hearing more. Since the Legacy Titler will be retired very soon in the next major release in the fall timeframe you will need to keep a version of Premiere Pro on your computer that still has the Legacy Titler. I recommend preparing for a switch to Essential Graphics as soon as possible.

I have now spent hours trying to find how the new essential graphics panel will enable me to create simple supers/titles/time supers, as fast and as easily as legacy titles enables me to do so. I am completely lost. As far as I can see, it will instead, take much, much longer. Please, please, keep legacy titles for editors like me, who use premier pro for simple, but not unimportant, edits. Thank you.
