Ability to set a default font for new text in preferences/synced settings
Using latest Premiere Pro on Mac, when creating new text it currently defaults to Minion Pro font. Every time I start a new project or new editing session I change it to Arial since it's easier to read - often just using these as temporary labels when starting a project and organizing footage, not as actual title design which we do later in AE. Not a huge deal just adds another tiny bit of work that adds up over time. Would be great if I could set Arial as my default font, and also as my fallback font for when a font is missing, both of which I think you can do in some other Adobe programs like Acrobat. Currently when a font is missing it defaults to the first one I have alphabetically which is a pixel art font called 04b... which I don't use often. Thanks!

addition to my earlier post: another workflow would be to use a "Style". In the Essential Graphics panel, select a text layer and open the dropdown menu where it says "Style" and choose "Create Style...". This will create an item in the Project panel. You can then apply this style to any text you add. You can also save this to disk and reimport into any project. As soon as it is in the project it will show up in the Style menu. Right-click the style in the Project panel and choose "Export Text Styles...". What is great: These styles are also applicable to captions in the project!

Hi everyone! I'm a Quality Engineer on the Motion Graphics team. How about creating a template instead? Just create a text, change the font to what you like, right-click and select "Export as Motion Graphics template". Once found in the Essential Graphics panel you can add it to a library or just click on the star to create a favorite for easy access. Then you can reuse that title again and again and again :)

I totally agree. We need a preference where we can define default font, font weight, font color and size. I work at a company where this is specified by the Brand department, and it's bad that we have to live with Minion Pro as our default. It would be greatly appreciated by so many users if this set of parameters could be preset to suit their needs. Thanks!

I would love also to be able to set the default text settings in a graphic layer.
I am almost always just using them in arial center justified for slugs but have to set them when I put the first one into any sequence.

If "favourites" view were enabled by default, that would solve a lot of issues. Most editors have only a handful of fonts they regularly use

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback, Derek. I am also not a particular fan of Minion Pro ;)
Since you are familiar with After Effects, does the way they handle remembering your last font selection meet your needs, or do you need the additional control of a preference? If you need more control, any more details would be helpful.
Thanks,

Minor note: I posted this under "Essential Graphics" since I didn't know where else to post it but am typically just using the text tool to pop in text quickly and not the EG panel.
