Bug - Audio effect settings being reset when duplicating sequence
When duplicating a sequence, some of my audio effects settings, typically my compressor (usually this is a single-band compressor), has its settings reset.
This is EXTREMELY frustrating, especially when other editors need to jump into a project, and suddenly the sound is messed up.
- Set up a compressor on your Bus Track.
- Adjust settings of compressor to suit audio
- Duplicate sequence
- Marvel as all of your settings are intermittently reset

This issue was resolved in 2018. Please ensure you’re using the most recent releases to benefit from the fix and update.

Potential Workaround: If you open the original sequence, open an effect that typical gets reset (like a compressor) just to view the parameters, THEN you duplicate that sequence, you may find your settings intact.
Whereas if I duplicate the sequence as soon as I open the project –without opening the original sequence first– my settings will almost always reset.

Yeah this is really bad and infuriating.

Yeeeeah could you please fix this! I'm working on a project of 60 videos that all need to have the same Multiband Compressor applied to each sequence. So duplicating each video 60 times (plus duplicating those for version changes) and having to manually adjust my Multiband Compressor settings is SO PAINFUL. While you're at it, could you add saving presets to your audio FX? If I could do that, it would be a simple selection from your dropdown menu. Many thanks for reading.

WORKAROUND: This is stupid that we have to do this, but I created a new project and imported the previous sequence into the new project. All audio effects carried over.
This solution worked for my needs, but won't be for anyone.

I'm having the same exact issue and it's horrible. I'm using tube modeled compressor on a VO track. Please fix this issue!!!

I was just trying to troubleshoot this specific issue for someone, and it seems the problem comes from the Audition VST plugins being enabled in Premiere (in the Audio preferences). Because they already exist in Premiere they turn into "ghost duplicates" and that seems to be what resets the settings when a sequence is duplicated.
Turning them off seems to fix the issue. You might need to delete the effect and add it again.

Some response from an Adobe rep about this would be appreciated, if you want to prevent jump ship to Resolve 15.
Based on the all the previous comments, and this bug, I'm taking resolve 15 for a test drive with some new projects for an all in one solution future forward. -

Davinci Resolve, here I come!

Hands down one of the most annoying bugs I've seen. Makes working with other editors total guesswork as to whether or not we're hearing the same thing.

I notice the same thing. multi band compressor resets. It seems random too. All of a sudden if I open the sequence one day, it has reset (without and duplicating)

Same here. It happens mostly on the single band compressor but also on mastering sometimes. I work in a professional environment and this is incredibly frustrating. It is still happening in the latest update. Please let us know if anyone has found a solve.

Yup, we're still bashing our heads on a daily basis with this one.
This last series of releases (since 12.1) has left us seriously thinking about Resolve. The biggest problem that we're seeing is that major issues are introduced, and no indication or acknowledgement from Adobe is given, so we're left wondering what is happening. When are we going to be able to use the software properly again? Is it going to be even more broken in the next mandatory release?
These bug reports don't really seem to do much, and this whole system seems more like a user forum than anything else, and it often seems as though the issues just fall on deaf (Adobe) ears.
It's frustrating to say the least.

Can confirm this happens very often with projects at the studio I work at too -- when we duplicate a sequence, often the Multiband Compressor settings that were changed in the previous sequence get set to 0 (ie. Gain: 0 / Thresh: 0 / Margin: 0).
The Compressor is set on the Track Mixer.
Definitely very annoying and not a problem I remember in previous versions! :/

It's particularly annoying since you can't save any Presets.
Plugin-system without preset-saving, way to go in the 21st century

This is still a problem as of 12.1.2!
Hands down one of the most frustrating bugs we had in the previous two horrendous versions, and we still have it now.

Same problem. I typically have the dynamics plugin (utilizing the compressor) on individual interview clips, and inevitably the plugin completely resets when duplicating to a new sequence. Terrible bug.
