Bug - Audio effect settings being reset when duplicating sequence
When duplicating a sequence, some of my audio effects settings, typically my compressor (usually this is a single-band compressor), has its settings reset.
This is EXTREMELY frustrating, especially when other editors need to jump into a project, and suddenly the sound is messed up.
- Set up a compressor on your Bus Track.
- Adjust settings of compressor to suit audio
- Duplicate sequence
- Marvel as all of your settings are intermittently reset

This issue was resolved in 2018. Please ensure you’re using the most recent releases to benefit from the fix and update.

Oh man, that is not great at all. We never use Team Projects here, so I can't speak to that, but considering that we're all seeing similar issues (effects settings disappearing) then, as you said, it really doesn't seem to be contingent on the project type.
So, am I understanding this correctly: You're applying clip effects, and even those are getting reset? Are you seeing it in only audio effects, or other clip effect types (Lumetri, transform, etc)?
If the Premiere team would at least jump in here and say "oh hey, we're seeing this as well, throw some sample projects, etc, our way, and let's work through it", that would go a long way. As it is, we're seeing no response, and the last time I checked this was the official bug reporting system for Premiere so...that's awesome.

We're having this problem in multiple sequences and projects. We're using Team Projects, but I doubt it's contained to just those as there are many reports of it here. We're not even duplicating sequences, we're just copying and pasting clips with Dynamics already applied to other sequences and later coming back to find they've all been reset. So it is likely something to do with duplicating the clips themselves via various methods (copy/paste, duplicate sequences, alt+drag duplicate clip) that results in the issue. Adobe please fix ASAP!

Update #1
Okay, so, weird. I opened the project, had the sequence I wanted to duplicate open, and duplicated immediately. Audio effects didn't transfer.
Deleted the new sequence, and then waited a little longer for the project to fully open (peak files, etc), and duplicated again. This time effects came across.

Great idea! At work I'm running an iMac on High Sierra. I've noticed that the "opening a sequence and then duplicating" workaround now seems to be working (it didn't before the latest update - if it's not working for you, double-check that you've updated. That's no guarantee that it'll work, but at least we'll all be working from the same software base).
I'll keep track of whether this is 100% consistent.

This bug isn't consistent... some can work around it by opening the sequence first; for some, that doesn't work. Scientifically speaking, bugs are rarely random, meaning... since Adobe is ignoring this post, let's put our heads together and figure out what workaround really makes duplicating a sequence work correctly every time. That is, what conditions are present when duplicates work, and when they don't work. On my system (iMac, running High Sierra) opening the sequence first in the timeline allows good copies every time (so far!). On other systems, it doesn't. Also, at some point, I have opened the audio effect on that sequence just to have a look, then close it. I always get a good duplicate then, even if it isn't currently open in the timeline. But get this... If I launch Premiere fresh then create a duplicated sequence, it SOMETIMES works without ever opening the sequence. Why? What is the factor that triggers this bug? Also, has anyone determined that if one audio effect copies correctly, does that mean all effects copy correctly in that sequence? Or is that random, too? I know this isn't our job, but many of our jobs depends on good, solid duplications, and I don't always have time to check every effect. So, please take the time to jot down anything you find that insures good duplicates every time, along with your system info. I, of course, will update whatever I find.Thank you all.

The open and duplicate workaround doesn‘t work for me unfortunately

The workaround is to ensure the timeline you’re duplicating is open. Double click the timeline you want to duplicate to open it on the timeline, then right-click and duplicate. Audio FX should be preserved.
Still, it’s unfathomable that the bug still exists!

This is STILL not fixed with the latest 2019 update. Beyond disappointed

Does anyone know if this bug is fixed in the latest update?

Yes, I've been running into this a lot recently, super frustrating, especially after rendering 14 sequences to find out all their compression settings got reset, and now you have to re-render.

Same over here, I can't trust this software anymore. It just vanishes my work and that is ridiculous for a professional work environment. If there's no stable version coming fast, we'll be switching to Resolve.

@Curtis - I hear you, man. The lack of any response is definitely frustrating and disconcerting. To be honest, it does feel par for the course with Premiere though, which is a pity. I've always found the After Effects team to be more responsive.
If I'm honest, this whole Uservoice site just seems like a pointless waste of time. As you mentioned, there are four threads about this issue, and not a peep. There's got to be a better way of filing bugs for Premiere.
Regarding the workaround, unfortunately that's something that doesn't seem to work on my end. I was pretty excited about it when I read your comment, but for whatever reason it doesn't seem to have the same result here. Thanks though! :-)

Currently, there are at least four threads about this issue, not just this one. So it is affecting more people than this list suggests. Even though I believe I found a workaround, I must still take the time to check every compressor in every duplicated sequence, else I could ultimately loose a client, and my reputation. Adobe, please acknowledge on all four threads that you are hearing us.

Davinci isn't perfect, but it's much better then Premiere still "featuring" this bug!! Right now working on the last open premiere project :-)

I can't believe this is being ignored. No Adobe response. Angry comments piling up.
This UserVoice system is yet another Adobe fail. -

Ditto - this is infuriating when you are trying to create multiple sequences with the same settings. Very time consuming. Fix it, Adobe!

Open the sequence before duplicating works, but time consuming.
