Sequence Audio Doesn't Play After Opening A Project Unless You Solo and Unsolo A Track
After opening a project, the audio will not play in any open sequences. In order to get it to start working, you have to solo and then unsolo any audio track. This has been an issue since Premiere Pro Version 12.1 for sure. It may have been introduced in version 12.0.
Please check 12.1.2. We have provided a fix that we believe resolves this issue.
Adobe, please give an update as to how long we have to put up with this problem. It is HUGE. I've been using NLES for 25 years and have never run into something like this - it is a serious problem for professional editors. Thank you.

Same issue here!
Solo-ing and unsolo-ing the track works just sometimes.... and other times it doesn't. Then reinserting the clip sometimes works.. sometimes it doesn't. It plays for a bit, then stops... sometimes doesn't play at all. Sometimes plays but it's off-sync, sometimes it sounds like the audio line is compressed... then I'll delete and reinsert and it works for a bit, then stops... UGH!!!!! Please fix this glitch!!
I have to mute and solo all audio tracks and then unmute and remove the solo for this to work. It appears to be an issue after opening a project that worked previously, where all the audio tracks are muted. I suspect it is in the initialisation of the sequence, not the project files. A new bug since the recent update.
I also have this problem

How long do Adobe needs to look into the problems. Its been three months now. You guys still couldn’t figure out yet? Shame Shame Shame

This is a MAJOR issue, has it been resolved in an upcoming point release?

I also have this problem, seems like multiple times a day since 2018 CC.
Related, one workaround is to duplicate your sequence.
Which causes another bug. If you are using something like the multiband compressor on an audio track. All settings on the compressor will be lost, and that track will be quieter. This has messed up many renders for me already. Very dumb and annoying bug. This also happens when just duplicating a sequence when making a v2 from v1, etc...

I'm facing the same issue. Please fix this asap! We don't pay a subscription for you to fix these bugs twice a year with updates that break half of our other tools.

Adobe I really dont wanr to hear about any new features until bugs like these get cleaned up. Seriously it is 2018. How is this still happening? This bug has been reported for months. The cloud based updates have been nothing but headaches for myself and my entire production team.
This is such a frustrating bug. This has cost me soooo many hours of work. Premiere would crash mid-project, I would reopen for export and forget to solo and unsolo a track, export, upload the video to preview and then realize there was no audio....this has happened multiple times on very large exports.
Same issue here, I wasted hours and hours of work to get to the finish line. First workaround was creating a new project, but the problem would be back as the project got more complex (and I'm just editing short videos, not shows!). I thought it was the audio effects (compressor etc), but even without any effects and any colour correction playing sound eventually became an issue.
I'm moving to FCPX until this issue gets fixed, which is a hustle but what else can I do to get the job done on tight deadlines? Not being sure for how long I can play sound is a nightmare that really impacts on focus and workflow. Adobe, please fix this ASAP!

Also, when I export an audio mix, not all effects (ex. vocal compression) render into the export.

Thank you Shuan K. for sharing the workaround! This issue has wasted days of my time!
I have the same issue. I didn't think to solo/unsolo the tracks. I copied all my video and audio to a brand new sequence and the audio worked again. However, when I tried to open the project the next day, the audio was silent again in that new sequence.
I would also like to note that I've got plenty of memory, have rendered the sequence/audio, and tried to fix the Audio Hardware.
On that note for "Audio Hardware" - I changed it now so I don't really remember which setting it was, but there were several settings which said something like "Premiere 8 (not working)". I've switched it off from that since then, and that option has disappeared entirely. I don't have an option to make anything like "Premiere CC18", so I'm using default settings for right now.

+1. Happens infrequently. When it *does* happen audio also doesn't export.
We're also having this issue on several editor workstations, both PC and Mac (v.12.1.1). One of my editors has reported that duplicating the sequence is a workaround. Is this something that will be fixed in the next point release? Thanks! :)
Soloing and un-soloing tracks no longer always works.
I often need to clean media cache and restart my workstation, also sometimes need to copy missing audio track to a newly created audio track.
Problem re-occurs every hour or so, haven't been able to detect a pattern as to why it happens yet.
This problem is occuring on all of the workstations in our office which have updated to 12.1.1

Be warned. Toggling Solo doesn't always unmute ALL TRACKS.

Same issue with myself and all other premiere users in my office. Toggling solo fixes.
