Move Playhead To Cursor Anywhere Into Timeline
The option to press anywhere into the timline and have the playhead follow the cursor instead to always press the ruler on top of it!
It is more time consuming doing so, at least if you think in that way you can accidentatly move clips, put an option in to the preferences,
Please it would a lot of Vegas users make it more friendly and easy work with premiere!

It would just be great if snapping was added to the "Move playhead to cursor" command. So if your mouse cursor is near an edit point, the playhead will snap to it. If the mouse cursor is not near an edit point, the playhead snaps exactly to the cursor.

Go to Keyboard shortcuts and type in the search bar: "move playhead to cursor" Then set it to whatever you'd like :)

I'm with you on this one, it's getting me annoyed as much as playback pausing if I skip to another area of the timeline

Not only that, but I have a script that enables the functionality that you crave:
https://github.com/TaranVH/2nd-keyboard/blob/master/Taran's%20Premiere%20Mods/PREMIERE%20MOD%20-%20Right%20click%20timeline%20to%20move%20playhead%20MOD.ahk
It uses right-click, (unless you are above a clip) but you can change it to use middle click, or anything else. (which also makes the script a lot simpler.) -

There is a command that you can set a keyboard shortcut to: "Move Playhead to Cursor".

It would be incredibly frustrating to have the playhead follow the cursor like that. It would give us no where to deselect a clip.
The current behavior is better.
