Selecting a graphic in the timeline should open the edit properties for the graphic within the EG Panel
When I click a graphic in the timeline, I then need to also select it in the Essential Graphics Panel to access its properties. It would be much better if the properties were open automatically, since I might need to change multiple graphics it would save a lot of mousing

You have 2 separate (100% valid) requests for PrPro - User experience/interface, which are:
(1) Make a Wacom tablet work for direct manipulation (by setting a minimum drag distance for moving a selected item, with a momentary hotkey to disable it)
(2) Enable middle mouse button to move up/down/left/right on the timeline just as the hand tool does.
That 2nd one though... I tried it with a mighty mouse on mac and it looks like it does exactly what you want. My win mouse just has an up/down wheel though so I'm not sure what it does on win with side/side movement. Perhaps there is a request to make it work on win or make it do more with other types of mice.
In any case, neither of those requests are specific to Essential Graphics. And the current EG functionality already matches what you wrote in your initial request here. So I'd like to close this thread as Done if you don't mind.

Hey James thanks for the response. You're right that does offer a solution - but since I'm using a Wacom tablet, as many editors do, it's actually almost impossible to select the element in the program monitor without moving it a few pixels as well. Since to 'click' with the pen is to tap on the tablet, the tip of the pen will also slide very slightly across the tablet which causes that movement.
Perhaps if there were a minimum drag distance for moving elements, with a momentary hotkey to disable it, that would work.
Since I've got your attention ;) My number one feature request is to have middle mouse button functionality and that it allow me to move up/down/left/right on the timeline just as the hand tool does. The Wacom pen obviously doesn't have a scroll wheel like mice do so this would navigating through my project so much smoother.

When you select a Graphic track item in Pr's timeline, it shows you that Graphic's editable properties in the Essential Graphics Panel (EGP). For a whole Graphic, the only things that are editable as of pr 12.1 are Roll params and Intro/Outro durations. To see things like Scale, Position, Font, Fill and other Layer properties, you need to select a layer (or multiple Layers). You can do that by clicking directly on a layer in the Program Monitor with the Type tool or the Arrow tool. Or by clicking on a Layer in the EGP, which it sounds like you've been doing. But that 2nd way takes an extra click, as you've seen.as
