Trying to import a .psd file after doing an update. I keep getting a generic error.
Updated Adobe Premier Pro from Creative Cloud. Opened a current project. Tried importing a .psd file and keep getting a generic error. I tried changing the name of the file to not include an underscore as I read there was an issue with that a while back. I have moved the file to a different drive still no luck. I have closed and re-opened Premier, still no luck. "Generic error" doesn't help correct anything! Need help!!!

Encountered this error too. Turned out the PSD was in CMYK color mode, not RGB. After I made that change in Photoshop (Image > Mode > RGB Color), the file imported fine.
I'd agree with the OP, however, that "generic error" is less than helpful. It's almost idiotic. "The importer encountered an error" would be just as "helpful" and not as stupid sounding.

This goes way beyond .psd files. I've tried adding .ai files, m4v files, mov files, and more, but I get the exact same error message. Premiere is now an expensive dud at the moment, because I can't do anything with it.
I've just uninstalled it and reinstalled it, but had no luck. I've changed file extensions with no luck. I've moved the files to other hard drives and locations, but had no luck. I've even just tried re-linking files that were in previous projects--guess what? No luck!
