Playhead return after stop
Make playhead return to original position like in Adobe Audition for speed up editing

Four years later and it's still not an option.
-option 1- Leave playhead where you stopped it,
-option 2- Auto return playhead to the previous kick-off point.
When I'm trying to fine-tune a particular moment, maybe trying different transition styles or a camera switch point, I want to be able to hit 'Stop' and have the playhead jump back to the moment I'm fiddling with. -

Come on Adobe, get it done

AGREE! Stop playback, playback head returns to where it started. So simple.
This is a basic feature in every other editor both for video and audio. It speeds up editing time enormously when previewing changes to clip edits over and over by not needing to use any of the other time consuming dinosaur methods to back up like manually scrubbing, rewinding with the mouse, setting in and out points, pre rolls, markers, etc, etc every single time! Premier Pro is still so clunky in 2020 with basic usability features missing. Making edits to masks it a nightmare for example. LUT previewer anyone?
It's no wonder people are leaving for RESOLVE is droves. Get it together Adobe. -

Mr Adobe; it's as simple as this (see clip)

If I'm editing something and focusing on the end of the timeline, why would I want it to go back to the beginning of the WHOLE timeline when I press play/pause?? If I want to go back to the beginning I can press enter or home, depending on where my in/out points are. This is really, really slowing me down.

I would also like to see this as an easily toggled option via button in the sequence pane. Sometimes you want it and it would speed editing up enormously, sometimes you don't want it. I'm used to having this toggle feature in audio editors such as Pro Tools.

This feature should be an option not a must!!!!!

TaranVH, yes. Maybe it was incorrectly explained. I meant the optional function in preferences.

Jim is half right. This WOULD be a horrible idea... IF it was forced on everyone.
Personally, I'd rarely, if ever, use this feature. But if this is made to be optional, it's a win-win.
Nick, I think you should have specified that this should be optional, from the start. -

Jim Simon, this feature mast be included in preferences (like in other programs for editing audio\video). If you want it - turn on, dont want - off.

This would be a HORRIBLE idea. The software should do what we tell it, not decide things on it's own. If you hit stop, it should stop, and that's it. If you want to go back, you need to tell the software to go back.

Its so simple, but so usefull feature. I dont understand, why we must ask this in 2018, when others programs have this from the first versions (Cubase, Nuendo, Sony Vegas, Adobe Audition, Davinci Resolve)

Yes PLEASE
Cubase has this as well, it's such a better way of working. Add a keyboard shortcut like Ctrl+Space to "Stop Playhead at Current Position"
