Support for ProRes RAW
Support for Apple's newest codec, ProRes RAW and ProRes RAW HQ

Hello ProRes RAW community,
as of today, you can start using ProRes RAW in Premiere Pro 14.2 (public release).
Thanks to the large group of people from this thread that helped us during the last couple of weeks in putting finishing touches on the implementation through our beta program.
More info on 14.2 is available from:

As others (and I) have recently stated here, please provide us an update and timetable (with real dates, not merely references to "Q4" or "Qx" since we don't know when Adobe's quarters are). Keeping your user base "in the dark" causes your user base to look for alternatives. Not a very good (and definitely not a very smart) thing for a company to do.
Keep your users informed!!

As stated just before, an update would be most appreciated. Q4 has come and gone.

Adobe, could you please provide an update on this topic soon? or at least when we can expect a topic.

Guess they will announce it in April on NAB 2020 or IBC 2020... or NAB2021 or IBC 2021....

Come on Adobe, it's Q1 again! Did you mean Q4 of 2020?

It is unfortunate Adobe does not provide a status update on where they are with the ProRes Raw Support. The subscription is expensive so you would expect them to stay current. Adobe is a monopoly now and like many before them they are of the opinion that we will all just sit patiently and wait for the release but others have taken that approach and are now out of business. At least if its delayed just say so.

It's been 84 years and I still can't utilize the ProRes RAW footage on my Inspire 2 X7.

If you're like me and you're one of the users getting these notifications and waiting (im)patiently for ProRes RAW or other features that have slowed or stunted your workflow- here's my guess. Patrick is probably bombarded. If he's the only admin managing the UserVoice platform he has thousands of suggestions, comments, and threads to weed through and very likely has no way of getting answers for us. This isn't Patrick's fault, I think it's a business process that could be cleaned up by some thoughtful management on Adobe's part...maybe a communications liaison from each department could help us to understand why certain features don't exist yet or where they are in the development process. My guess is that it's more likely that there isn't a good answer yet, so it's better to say nothing at all. Maybe it's still a licensing issue, or maybe trying to implement on the software side is causing huge problems, glitches, or holdups for developers. It would at least alleviate some of us to know these things, but why would Adobe put out bad press? I'm one of those creators that dove in headfirst on the EVA1 and Shogun with the promise of 5.7k and RAW format, only to have my growth as a business be stalled by the post workflow. Still, I don't think that this part is anyone's fault, and I hold to the stance that the flaw here is in communication. We may be a small percentage of Adobe users, but some of us are making plans for our 2020 productions and really need to account and budget for things like data and post processing time, both of which are directly affected by the release of this very feature. If we can't know when, and we can't know why, then at very least we can all get the tiny shred of excitement when our email notifies us of a new comment in this thread...and here's another one to add to your trash.

Any update on this? Or should we all change to Final Cut?

Here I am sitting with an upgraded Z6 and a Ninja V considering how long I should wait before bailing on Premier Pro. A simple ETA would be nice.

Here we are in 2020 and no update on this. Q4 has been over for over a week now.

Hi Patrick! Any update on supporting ProRes Raw?
-

And my worry was from the beginning - Will nikon be able to deliver a camera with prores Raw support soon ? - Well they did - Now i need to use Final cut or Edius to work with my Prores Raw Media.. Its Q1 2020 now.. and I pay a lot of dollars every month to have the latest programs. This is SO disappointing. a big company as Adobe just give a **** about the users - as always.

James Bandes commented
As with everyone else any update. I actually bought a copy of Edius Pro 9 and it's working but really was hoping Adobe would realease or at least post an update on the road map of when this will be coming out

We really need that prores raw implemented. Nikon & Atomos now have prores raw.

Patrick, this must be rather embarrassing for you as an adobe Principal Product Manager; for this would seem like a promise broken to many PP users.
But given that you've promised that we can "Expect more details on this towards the end of Q4", there are still 6 more days left in Q4. I/we would hope Adobe can come through on promises made rather than being The Grinch this holiday season by exhibiting promises reneged.
What say you?
