Support for ProRes RAW
Support for Apple's newest codec, ProRes RAW and ProRes RAW HQ

Hello ProRes RAW community,
as of today, you can start using ProRes RAW in Premiere Pro 14.2 (public release).
Thanks to the large group of people from this thread that helped us during the last couple of weeks in putting finishing touches on the implementation through our beta program.
More info on 14.2 is available from:

Cheers,

Any update?

This is taking ages! if you can't get ProRes RAW - maybe look at making your own format like lossy cdng... I agree with some of the other comments.

Patrick thanks for the April update` and I can understand if it is Apple playing hardball.
But doesn't it seem reasonable for us to expect an update every 3 or 4 months? Is that too much to ask? -

I'm shooting a short film this weekend on the EVA-1 and have decided to go with ProRes RAW. As a long time user of Premiere I was shocked when I heard that this codec is not available. We are under a time crunch and are seriously considering the switch to Final Cut. This is extremely disappointing. Especially considering there has been no comment from any Admin since April.

Patrick Palmer please take note of my previous comments regarding lossy CDNG development, I'm sure Apple is having fun negotiating royalties and limited licensing for ProRes Raw support. I hope the format isn't limited to mac...

While the previous comment is somewhat heated, it is correct to a degree. For Apple it's a licensing game. I DO however believe Adobe is partly to blame for the lack of development with DNG in regards to video. BlackMagic saw the opportunity offered by CDNG and furthered the development of an OPEN standard with 3:1 and 4:1 lossy compression.
ADOBE Should take note and update the "official" standard to support this. Lossless CDNG is unworkable in its current form due to size, so BlackMagic implemented LOSSY compression. If Adobe further developed this with different compression ratios such as 5:1, 7:1, 8:1 it would absolutely take off and become an industry standard OPEN FORMAT!

We can sit here and blame Adobe all we want but the reality is this: Apple are doing their typical Apple thing and trying to squeeze as much money as they can out of consumers by making their product have serious restrictions. We as consumers should turn on Apple for this, not Adobe. Adobe would be more than happy to implement ProRes RAW into their software and would have done within days of it's release had they been allowed. Obviously licensing issues there with Apple hoping everyone will switch to Final Cut rather than just give license to Adobe.
For me it's now time for a phone and tablet upgrade and I'm completely moving away from Apple over sh!t like this. iPhone will be replaced with a Samsung. iPad will also be replaced with a Samsung. Need a computer upgrade and was seriously thinking about investing in a Mac for Pro Tools but I will now stay true to Adobe and will continue with Audition now. Not just over ProRes RAW but because continually Apple try to rip off their customer's whilst at the same time trying to ***** over the customers of as many other companies as possible.
Apple are a virus and a symbol of everything wrong with the technology industry. Anyone with half a brain would see this ProRes RAW situation as the last straw in Apple's attempt to dominate. No doubting ProRes RAW is a quality RAW file format but there are alternatives and in the end my clients won't know the difference between CinemaDNG and ProRes RAW. Would have loved to shoot in ProRes RAW but I can't bf dealing with Apple's nonsense.
Adobe released CinemaDNG as open source and allowed it to be workable with almost every camera on every platform. Apple will restrict ProRes RAW for as long as possible. That's the difference between the two companies. Adobe's focus is helping the industry grow. Apple's focus is making sure they dominate at every turn and really don't care about the industry growing or about users having a good experience. They'll probably be bought by Disney soon.

Adobe NEEDS to support lossy CDNG as an open alternative with different compression ratios up to 10:1. NO licensing fees, already somewhat implemented by BlackMagic Design, should be easy for Atomos to support. ProRes RAW is going to once again fragment workflows and cause licensing and support headaches across platforms!!!

The reason Adobe won't give us an update is because they probably don't know when they can have access to prores raw. Apple is going to take their sweet time before they allow anyone else to use their sacred codec

My Adobe account expries in 2 months and I am looking to switch to final cut if prores raw is not available in October. Please giveus an update or just let us know that you wont support the codec in the near future so we can all make special arrangements with our production budgets.
Thanks, -

Yes, this is something that is ESSENTIAL to our workflow. Please add support for ProRes RAW in PP CC!!!

Adobe, let's step on the gas here. This is an essential codec to include in your next update.

Any ETA on this

I really don't want to learn how to use FCPX just to be able to use ProRes RAW... I hope Adobe is able to get this finalized sooner than later!

I really like what @Brendan said,
that does make a lot of sense! Just an industry standard! so we dont have to wast time with this other stuff.Standardization and NOT Isolation, which in turn leads to Annihilation, but Standardization will lead to Industrialization - the development of industries in a country or region on a wide scale.!!!
-
Brendan commented
Adobe should be pushing lossy CDNG as an open alternative to Redcode and ProRes Raw. They NEED to support lossy CDNG and further advance the standard with different compression ratios up to 10:1. This would avoid multiple licensing fees and create a viable open standard across industry. Until they finally do this - a lot of customers will be lost to both Apple and Blackmagic design.

PRO RES RAW IS AMAZING!! I love PP but my fully loaded 2016 15" MacBook Pro just handled ProRes RAW like a CHAMP on FCPX! And the power of the footage is truly amazing! I would never shoot Cinema DNG AGAIN!!

Bo Skelmose commented
As I understand FCP does not handle the Prores RAW as raw. Lets have it done right on CC.
