Support for ProRes RAW
Support for Apple's newest codec, ProRes RAW and ProRes RAW HQ

Hello ProRes RAW community,
as of today, you can start using ProRes RAW in Premiere Pro 14.2 (public release).
Thanks to the large group of people from this thread that helped us during the last couple of weeks in putting finishing touches on the implementation through our beta program.
More info on 14.2 is available from:

Cheers,

I'm happy that PP finally got this update but it's very disappointing and still leaves me having to use FCPX.
It's easy to work with ProRes RAW in FCPX, drop the footage in and then RAW to LOG convert it. In Premiere, it's janky and having an exposure slider is not a solution to dealing with linear footage.
There NEEDS to be a way to conform this footage to a LOG workspace otherwise I'm stuck doing the same workflow as before where I load into FCPX -> export as ProRes 4444 -> edit in Premiere. To me, this workflow is too cumbersome so I just end up using FCPX.
I have opened another post for anyone interested in this as well:

I don't know where the right place to post this is but I'm running into several ProRes Raw bugs on Windows (10, Nvidia RTX 2070):
1) ProRes raw is generally working great in PP, however, during playback the frame immediately following a cut often drops when doing hardware playback (CUDA). When exporting using hardware encoding, those drop frames are rendered in the final video. If software encoding is used, there are no dropped frames on export.
2) Updating to Apple's ProRes Raw for Windows 1.1 (released May 19) causes it to no longer work in Premiere pro
Let me know if I should republish these bugs somewhere else. Thanks!

Will there be implementation of Raw to Log Conversions and a way to deal with noise (Video Grain) levels + True White Balance adjustments For prores RAW in premiere beta or when it gets released.

Hey, All works just fine but, why the program freezes on various action connected with windows explorer? Like when i try to load a preset in Lumetri one time works one time freezes and i must close the program thru task manager??? Same with when i am trying to choose a location for the export, once i click to choose the program freezes?? Any idea what is going on here?
Thanks -

It's the same thing as if you deal with .dng or REDRAW or BRAW (BRAW Studio or Blackmagic plugin)

It's in the Master tab (look at the top left of your Effects Windows) because the "ProRes RAW Source Settings" effect is applied on each ProRes RAW footage imported in your Project Panel and not on elements of your timeline (when you drag and drop a ProRes RAW footage from your Project Panel into a sequence, there you can apply effect only on this instance of the clip)

Yes thanks! I don't see any "Exposition" slider either...Lumetri looks exactly the same.

Thanks Antoine, i allready test it. Where can i find "Exposition" slider...did you meen "Exposure" in Lumetri?
Thanks. -

Marko you can already test the BETA to see how it'll look like. You will be able to make your color corrections in Lumetri. There will be a ProRes RAW Source Settings with only a "Exposition" slider (see BETA)

Hello everyone,
it will be some interface or plugin in Premiere for RAW, not just Lumetri Color...like for Blackmagic Raw directly on clip in Master.
I Use Sony FS7 with Atomos Shogun 7....what you suggest, how to make a color correction?
Thanks -

Folks! Look above this comment thread on this page, Patrick has added information about downloading the Premiere BETA so you can try ProRes RAW, without having to message him directly anymore.
There may be some regions where it is not available in Creative Cloud app but I am in Colorado and I see it in mine.
As I didn't see this info at first and it was buried in other responses, figured I would write that here.

Patrick has updated this issue with a public beta links. Previously all Adobe betas were private (i.e. selected people) but now it seems like they have a new system to allow public betas

Antoine, thanks for clarifying. Implying that even Windows users must find the private beta themselves. Is there a link to the Premiere Pro BETA easily accessible anywhere or do we still require a direct link from Patrick (or someone else at Adobe)?

Oliver, it seems like Apple has given private Windows beta builds of ProRes RAW decoding to selected vendors for a while now (probably more than a year). We're just knowing about this right now because Adobe has decided to let anyone participate in its private Premiere Pro BETA build so that you can test ProRes RAW decoding in PrPro. We don't know what others NLEs are concerned yet.

No Blake, what I understand is the following : Adobe needs native ProRes RAW integration (think, like Quicktime before it was deprecated). ProRes RAW support comes automatically with Mac OSX updates. On Windows, you need to install Apple's "Windows ProRes RAW Beta.msi" then if you have the Premiere Pro BETA build it'll find it is installed and offer you ProRes RAW on Windows (on OSX, it should be automatic via updates)

I think Oliver just confirmed what my brief research suggests...? Windows users have public access to ProRes RAW Premiere BETA straight from Apple.com, but Apple users need a private message to get theirs? Today Windows users have easier access to Premiere ProRes RAW than Apple users. This is the most Apple thing Apple has done in a WHILE. Do I have that right? So epic.

Ah, it appears you still require the beta version of Premiere to make use of the Apple release. Patrick - if you can add me to the beta group that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What does this news mean for ProRes RAW integration? Did Apple provide support for Adobe's product before Adobe did? Or is this somehow related to the beta mentioned earlier in this thread?
