Open captions have been extremely buggy in all of the most recent Premiere Pro updates for some time now. There NEEDS to be a fix to open captions not exporting consistently. In the past, I've had to nest my captions, pre-render in-to-out, and then export in Premiere, rather than Media Encoder, and it MAYBE works. This is unacceptable in the day and age when Facebook video is king, and captions are becoming a necessity for effective marketing. Premiere is making it consistently difficult to do my job efficiently and on-time.
We have completely redesigned the captioning workflow in Premiere Pro version 15.0. You will see this feature as well as many other dramatic workflow improvements. Please update to the latest version.

The problem lies with Dynamic Link and AME - Really needs fixing or at the very least some sort of update on how this is being addressed?

Experience the same problem. Still not fixed :(
One additional bug. When using an .srt file downloaded from YouTube, it is not centered in the screen. It's offset to the right.
This is an old (2015) and frustrating bug. Why is it not marked "Under Review"? Other captions bugs/suggestions:
(CC2017 v1.2) Mac OS 10.12.6
- If you change the "edge" value, the default color is red instead of black.
- Program monitor view sometimes reverts to the default font settings. Have to close the project and re-open to see the actual settings chosen.
-It would sure be nice to save my settings as the default or as a template so I don't have to go thru the process each time I add captions (which is on every video we do).
We work a lot of embedded captions. This needs to be improved ASAP. A lot of people edit for Social Media where you want captions to be embedded.
One suggestion, it would be good if caption handles snap by frames and don't move every time we open the software,

Captions are so buggy, that it's hard count all bugs. They don't export through AME (sometimes yes, sometimes no), they appears as offline when exporting by AME. They change positions, refuse to change opacity, color etc. Nightmare!!! Please do something with it!

Really frustrating! Premiere Pro CC2018, win10 pro, open captions do not burn into the video. (mp4) Tried the solution that for some might work by setting the sample rate to 44100 instead of 48000. Does not help me. Please solve this bug!

Do you have "open captions burned in video" option checked when exporting?
Agreed, captions are becoming more and more important. Getting better workflows for importing SRTs, styling them, and then rendering them out as "burned-in" captions, AS WELL AS exporting a new closed caption or SRT for subtitles for online platforms are all very important to me.
I currently do a work-around in After Effects with an AE script that imports SRT files and then dynamic links, but it ads more steps as well as more CPU cycles.

This has been discussed for at least TWO YEARS in this support thread! https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2238775
Please address this immediately. I work with open captions daily and have had to export over 100 sequences one by one in Premiere because AME will not do the job. This is beyond frustrating.
