Open captions have been extremely buggy in all of the most recent Premiere Pro updates for some time now. There NEEDS to be a fix to open captions not exporting consistently. In the past, I've had to nest my captions, pre-render in-to-out, and then export in Premiere, rather than Media Encoder, and it MAYBE works. This is unacceptable in the day and age when Facebook video is king, and captions are becoming a necessity for effective marketing. Premiere is making it consistently difficult to do my job efficiently and on-time.
We have completely redesigned the captioning workflow in Premiere Pro version 15.0. You will see this feature as well as many other dramatic workflow improvements. Please update to the latest version.

captions? not updating... price of the software is high enough for customers to see a fix, no?

Anyone got any feedback on the new design - is it much better?

Guys, if you still don't know, captions are getting a complete overhaul in the upcoming version 15 (currently in public Beta). You can all try it out for yourselves... TODAY!
Because of this, there's no longer any point to this thread. ;)

03.03.21 - duplicate caption title in the bin - drag to a new timeline - update text in the caption tool and nothing happens - still see the previous text. Quit Premiere, restart, and captions are magically updated. Is there a reason why this bug cannot be addressed? Seems it has been an issue for at least a couple of years. Productivity has come to a screeching halt trying to update across multiple edited timelines.

I do my edits of text directly in premiere but it won't take it in account until i reboot the computer... This is really ennoying when i got to render 20 differentes subtitled videos.

Come on Adobe, the caption feature in Adobe Premiere is a bug-filled joke. Subtitling and video captioning is a standard requirement now in many of my video projects this should be overhauled as a priority.

Not working for me as of Dec 2020

I am also having issues with captions not updating in real time, having to close project every-time I want to see an update. Very annoying!

Adjusting the font, size and background in the captions window - with Open captions import setting is not updating accordingly in the preview panel. Please can this be looked at. I need to use my standard corporate font when outputting captions in videos.

It would be nice if you guys could look into the open captions in Premiere. As others have said, it has been seriously broken for years. No need to make it ground breaking or anything, just make it work, thanks.

****. ****. Why doesn't it update when i change settings in the captions panel. So ****** right now.

This is a very basic feature that I depend on in my daily workflow. On average I lose about 2 hours a week to bugs in the caption facility, and this means cost to me and my business. Sort it out Adobe. Please. Not professional at all.
