ANNOUNCEMENT - This forum is moving

In an effort to improve communications between you and the Premier Pro team, we are moving this feedback forum to the Premiere Pro page on the Adobe Support Community. As requested, bugs and feature requests will be able to live separately in that forum.

This move is happening in part to acknowledge that we haven't been responsive enough here, and we are combining our forums to help remedy that. Ideas and their attached comments from this UserVoice forum will be migrated based on how many people voted for them. Check your profile on the Adobe Support Community to see any migrated posts that you've created or commented on. If you have an item here that did not make the migration, please bring it over to our new home.

See you soon on the Adobe Support Forum!

  1. STOP DUPLICATE MEDIA FROM BEING IMPORTED

This has not been fixed even though Adobe has claimed to fix this.

I have the media in one master project. My assistant has a their shared project. I open a small sequence from that project and drag the media from it it into my main project. EVEN THOUGH I ALREADY HAVE ALL THE MEDIA, I STILL GET DUPLICATED MEDIA. And on top of that it creates a separate folder for each small clip of footage. Take a look at the attached screenshot.

This is horrible. Fix this asap please. What's the point of shared projects if we can't move…

  2. Maintain folder structures on import

Add an option to preserve empty folder structures on import!

Often I or an assistant editor will create a folder structure in the finder with empty folders to be populated with media later on in the production workflow (i.e. Final mix stems, color files, graphics). Currently if you import empty folders or folders with only one item in them, those empty folders disappear on import and the single item that was inside them is left outside any folder. This prevents planning and proper organization, and I'm not sure what the benefit of it is? Fewer folders? But I wanted those,…

  3. CSV Markers file IMPORT to sequence or clip

We can export markers, but not import them.

Import -> CSV or TXT or JSON -> markers to sequence or markers to clip.

Nothing too smart, just timecode and marker, maybe even the comment.

This would help integrate with nonstandard workflows and would help prevent us moving the whole workflow to a competitor product.

  4. Import media as proxy

    Import media as proxy file.

Often we are sent dailies/proxies (shooting 4k, dailies made at 1080p) which are used to start editing the next day. We do not receive full resolution media to up to a week or so later. It would be beneficial to be able to import the dailies as proxy media so it can mimic the 4k resolution and therefore eliminate the need to resize during the online process and attach the native source media easily.

  5. Imported Clips from a C300 Mark II and C200 and they are all named "CLIPS001"

Went to the Media Browser, clicked the root folder that held the "CONTENTS" folder, and context-menu'd "Import" and every clip is named "CLIPS001". This did not happen with the previous version, just this new Premiere 2020.

    Hi all,

We're aware of this problem and currently working on fixing it. It's caused by changing the default naming scheme in the camera, replacing the default "CANON" suffix with something else. Returning to the default name is a workaround but we know it's not a good one, since it's such a useful feature to be able to change the default naming scheme, particularly when on a multi-camera shoot.

    Regards,

    Fergus

  6. Allow Batch Image sequence import

We're working on animation movies, and more specifically editing a feature film. We have 1600+ shots in this movie, that are all rendered to image sequences in various 3rd party software.

We need an efficiant way to import the shots into Premiere. Right now, there's no way to batch import the sequence. We should at least be able to drag & drop folders containing image sequences and have them imported all at once.

A dialogue box upon import should ask us if we want to import the folders content as image sequences, and maybe even let us define the framerate…

  7. Add an option to preserve empty folder structures on import

Add an option to preserve empty folder structures on import, so if you or your assistant editor has created a folder structure in the finder with empty folders to be populated with media later on in the production workflow (i.e. Final mix stems, color files, graphics), those empty folders won't disappear on import from the finder or from Media Browser.

This is an essential organizational tool.

  8. Reveal in Media Browser

Similar to "Reveal in Project" or "Reveal in Finder/Explorer" it would be nice to have an additional "Reveal in Media Browser" option that opens the chosen file in Media Browser, including showing the folder path in the left hand column.

One of the common uses of "Reveal in Finder" is to quickly find other takes from the same card/folder that have not yet been imported. Because some file types can not be natively previewed in Finder or Explorer (eg RedRaw, or ProRes on a Windows machine), it would be much easier to reveal the files directly in the Media Browser…

  9. Have Desktop and Documents as favorites in Media Browser by default

When I do training, a lot for people save their media on the Desktop or in Documents. I often spend several minutes teaching people how to add Desktop or Documents folders as favorites.

It's very confusing to people that the Media Browser does not show folders the way that macOS or Windows do. The file browsers in both OS-es show shortcuts to Downloads, Documents and Desktop.

Why can't these favorites be there by default?

You know you can do it! The Rush team got it right, so do what they did.

  10. Add 90degree batch rotation for importing vertical shot videos

Videos shot vertically on DSLR cameras are recorded as 16:9 ratio. When imported to premiere, they display 90degrees sideways. There needs to be a way to simply batch rotate these videos 90 degrees to 9:16 ratio.

  11. Live (Dynamic Link) Bins

PROBLEM: Due to the nature of my work, I slow get footage for different projects over a couple weeks or months. As I get new footage/music/foley for a project, it seems pretty old school to have to import each set of files into my windows folder structure then manually import the files into premiere to match that folder structure.

IDEA: Allow for the import of a folder tree into the premiere project panel to be displayed as bins. After that's done, you can have the preference to (1) update the bins on project open (2) auto update the bins every…

  12. sony fx series cameras lens stabilisation metadata

Could you please add support to warp stabilizer to be able to read and use sonys lens stabilisation metadata that is recorded in its video file for stabilisation.
Current work flow is stabilise then render file out in catalyst browse then edit in premiere.
Also have the stabilisation metadata as saveable/extractable that could be taken from the cameras internally recorded files and then applied to matched files recorded on external raw recorders etc.

  13. When Importing a folder with a group of subfolders, the subfolders with only one file are not imported just the enclosed file.

Since I work with files that have cryptic names, having them inside of a subfolder helps me identify them and keep my project organised. Currently, Premiere Pro discards any subfolders with just one file and imports them into the root folder. Please change Premiere Pro so that it no longer discards subfolders containing a single file.

  14. Premiere Connecting to the Wrong Media

The problem we're running into was brought up by someone else in the forums back in 2017:

    https://community.adobe.com/t5/Premiere-Pro/Why-is-Premiere-linking-the-wrong-clip/m-p/10646862#M229918

In our environment, we edit off of our server, and have done so for a long time now, without issue. All systems used to be Macs, but we've started introducing some PC systems into the mix, and now we're starting to run into complications.

This particular complication is around Premiere relinking to the incorrect media when switching between system OS.

    1) Create a project in OS A (could be Mac or Windows), and then edit something.
    2) Replace an asset in the…

  15. Properly detect and import .avi files with multiple audio tracks

Reproduce this issue by recording an .avi with multiple audio tracks - likely with DXTory. Then import the raw video into premiere. Only one audio track will be shown. Right-clicking the footage and selecting properties shows that Premiere can see the additional audio tracks.

To use the additional tracks, install VLC media player and return to your original raw footage in windows explorer. Right-click, select 'export audio stream'. Then import those .wav files into Premiere and sync them individually against the original material.

This is TERRIBLE workflow. As someone with 4 audio sources per clip, I spend ~5 minutes exporting,…

  16. Auto-Import Watch Folder

I would love to see an optional function that would act like a watch folder for importing assets and folders (as bins). The way I see it working would be: a user designates a folder in drive storage, and as folders and assets are added to that folder, they are automatically added to the project, with the same folder/bin structure. This would save a ton of organizational time.

  17. Ingest camera metadata

Has anyone ever seen camera metadata in Premiere from non-raw footage?

Almost any camera today records metadata like model, serial no., ISO, white balance, etc. Premiere has had an extensive metadata system for over 5 years... and you'd think that developing codec support for any cameras that come out would include interpreting those metadata fields.
It's one of those "how come this hasn't been implemented 5 years ago?"...

I worked mostly with Sony and Canon cameras, so they're the ones I've seen without metadata.

    This feature request would cover

  18. Improve and Consolidate the Appearance of Duplicate Media

I can't tell you how many times I've imported a sequence, NOT clicked "Allow Importing Duplicate Media" and ended up with duplicate media anyway. Media that is clearly in my project.

Furthermore, deleting media that I know is a duplicate removes the clip instance in the timeline, so I'm forced to keep both copies.

It would be fantastic to have a feature where Premiere scans your project for duplicate media, media that is clearly, or nearly, identical, and allows you to choose which one to keep.

  19. More Anamorphic Pixel Aspect Ratios please (1.5x, 1.6x & 1.8x)

With all these new Anamorphic lenses coming on to the market. We need more 'Common pixel aspect ratios' to choose from. In the Interpret Footage menu we can only choose 1,33x or 2x anamorphic. We need 1,5x 1,6x and 1,8 as well!

Can you guys please include this option in the next Update? This should not be to much of an issue to fix, but it safes us a lot of time! Now I constantly need to change the width and height of every clip on the timeline.

    Hi all,

We are currently working on improving support for footage shot on anamorphic lenses. The first step was to ensure that metadata in formats like ARRIRAW is getting read correctly by Premiere Pro - and that's in beta now - but we have more work to do to add additional lens squeeze factors, potentially adding a custom field for this.

    Regards,

    Fergus

  20. Import Media should create Folder, even when only 1 is in folder

Import Media will not create folders, if they contain only 1 file.
The files are put to the folder above ... thats NOT, what I expected.
All files are presorted into a folder structure, for coming from cams, audio devices or other sources.
I would like to import my complete folder struture with ALL folders, even when containing 1 file only
    Thank you
    Best Regards
    Bert
