Premiere is sooooo laggy on Apple MBPro M1 Max 64GB
For some reason (seen this on other forums) Premiere cannot handle even the simplest editing without lagging HORRIBLY on the new M1 Max on my MB Pro which is spec'd out with max memory.
Davinci handles even the most complex clips with effects and color grading flawlessly, I don't understand why Premiere is so buggy it is the biggest headache, I'm doing simple text overlays and I want to chuck the whole thing in the trash.

Hi Jon,
This is definitely not expected and not what we're seeing with most customers. Here are a couple of things to try:
1. Make sure you're using the latest version of Premiere Pro - that's v22.2.
2. Delete your media cache: https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/kb/clear-cache.html
3. Temporarily disable plug-ins and extensions by moving them out of their folder and putting them in a folder on your desktop. Plug-ins are here: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0/MediaCore; extensions are here: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/Extensions
You should be getting excellent performance and if not, I'm sure it's something we can help with.
Regards,
Fergus

FIX PROGRAM VIEW WINDOW CRASH!!!!!!!!!!
Every time I tried using premier in the last month the program view window froze within minutes. Everything else was fine like I was able to make changes to timeline but I couldn't see any of those changes. The only way to fix it was to close the whole program then reopen which took more than 20 mins to close saying the program wasn't responding then finally giving me the close program option. Then when I opened it again I had the same issue after a few minutes.
1 voteSorry you encountered this problem. There's nothing actionable in your post; if you can reliably reproduce the "program window freezing" issue, please give us step-by-step instructions on how you're able to do so, and we'll pursue the issue further.

Please make synchronize (by audio) and audio peak file generation multi-threaded processes.
Please make audio processing multi-threaded. Currently, generating peak files, synchronizing by audio, and rendering audio tracks are all single processor tasks, which makes these tasks really slow even on blazing fast multi-core machines.
1 voteWhile there is definitely more multi-threading optimization we could do in PPro, not every process is distributable across multiple threads.

Lag
I have a problem when I try to edit my video and the software is lagging a lot of for me.
1 voteWe would like to help you, but need a lot more information. Tell us more about your computer system? Has PPro’s performance always been laggy, or did something change version over version? When you say ‘laggy’, do you mean that the timeline is out of sync with audio? Or do you mean that it takes a while for PPro to respond to user commands?

make this software behave like professional video editing software
Yo I hate this software. You've attached the word Pro to it. I just spent 2 hours editing and cleaning up footage only to have it freeze up and lose everything I've done despite saving?? Insane. Why is there no recovery function? The mobile version is even more useless to me with its random audio hiccups and crashes, rendering it pretty much unusable. This honestly makes me want to cancel my Adobe subscription. I just updated all of my Adobe software. And still having a VST3 plugin crashes Adobe Premier "Pro". This isn't pro level software. This is shovelware. Ever…
1 voteAuto-save is the recovery function; on by default.
There is no mobile version of Premiere Pro; I think you’re referencing Premiere Rush.
We work directly with most major VST plug-in vendors; if you can provide specifics about the crash you’ve encountered, we could pursue it further.

Better CPU Usage when Exporting
I, also, have the same deep disappointment that Adobe does not utilize a multi-core system when Exporting video(H.264, encoding and such). I have a 2018/2019 MacBook Pro i7, 32GB RAM, Pro Vega 20 graphics, also connected to an eGPU Radeon 580x 8GB RAM enclosure connected with Thunderbolt 3, also have an M.2 Enclosure housing a 2TB 2800mb/ps connected thunderbolt 3 to port two on my Mac that keeps cache files, auto-saves, and backups. I keep all media files on a Sandisk 2TB Portable SSD, so should have absolute zero speed related issues references files. They all have separate drives that…

Instant crash
A weeks ago, Premiere was in a state where it would gobble up all the RAM on my laptop within 5-10 minutes (25GB). I would be able to edit a video for at least a few minutes before saving it, restarting Premiere, doing more edits. After five or such repeated cycles attempts, I would have to reboot the machine and repeat.
I don't know if that is related to this fault. I do not have the time to re-install all of Windows to try such desperate extremes. A video that should have taken 30 minutes to edit took an entire…
1 voteThere isn’t anything we can do, based on the information provided.
The description suggests that the project(s) PPro was opening contained some problem, that made PPro eat all available RAM.

Premiere not timeline not responding
My timeline is not responding at all. It was working fine yesterday, but now I am not able to perform any action of the timeline. I initially that the application is not responding, but I am able to do other things like save, open or close projects but the moment I try to do anything on the time nothing is functioning. I am not getting any indication as well as why this is happening.

what is the official standpoint on multithreading / multicore?
i just had contact with support regarding super slow rendering times – they referred me here.
i convert an h264 to a cropped png sequence, no effects applied (except the cropping).
if i do this in premiere or ae, it takes at least 2 hours and only utilises a fraction of my cpu. if i do the very same operation via ffmpeg (cli), it's done in less then 7 minutes. attached you'll find screenshots of the two procedures, note the render times (as said, same task, same machine, same result).is this expected behaviour (because cc simply does not work…

Make it not suck. I am runnning a top of the range, latest imac. Premiere 2019 felt smooth, responsive, lovely to cut with. 2020 NOT
Make 2020 smooth, not jittery. That would be a start... Also don't release software before it's ready please...

Trying to use Premiere 2018 and have problem with 'gradient wipe'
Trying to use Premiere pro 2018 (having cpu issues with 2019 and 20 due to older computer) but gradient wipe does not work!! I don't understand why if Adobe supports 2018, and it's available to download they can't give me the updated versions of 2018 in which this problem was fixed? CRM:08022000001557

Performance bad
Playback is choppy when you view the video. I edited a video two days ago and now when I play it back in the editor it is very choppy. So I started another and I get the same. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and the same. IT's CHOPPY. Please FIX>

The software crashes a lot more on newer versions
On older versions of Premiere pro I was and am able to import any size or quality of video or audio where in the newest three versions I can't import specific videos or audio and I don't whether this is a bug or the app itself

Why the **** do I have to confirm my cloud account every 10min?
DISABLE IT!
I hope this cloud system will be the end of Adobe and somebody will come up with something better.1 voteIf you can reproduce the problem in current builds of PPro, please contact Support and provide step-by-step instructions on how to reproduce it; we’d be happy to help.

New Imac 2019 crashing
Regular Imac, but w/ fastest processor & GPU and most RAM allowed, keeps crashing when dragging cursor thru timeline at high speed. It's not just PPro that crashes, the machine itself hangs up.

I LOST HOURS OF MY EFFORT. I had save automatically on and everything. Right now I wish I could drive my fist through some of you programmers faces.

Premiere Pro CC 2019
Premiere Pro CC 2019 wont read video clips like 2018 version. What has changed with the system and is there a future update to smooth the the thins up Same video clips run on Da Vinci Resolve smoothly but not the CC 2019.
5 votesThe OS support for legacy formats, on which Premiere Pro’s ability to import those formats was based, was removed. We’ll focus our format support efforts on modern formats.

Need to fix issue with searching imported project assets in Premiere CC 13.0.2 (Windows 10)
SEARCH BAR: Search lags or fails to produce results when searching connected media. This is causing major delays in production due to having to locate assets manually.
3 votesWe can’t reproduce that behavior, in current versions. If you can, please contact Support and provide more system specifics, and step-by-step instructions.
