  1. Provide same media name editing experience as Premiere Pro

It's ridiculously easy to rename a media in the project tree under Premiere Pro, ballistically you click and rename, and then hitting enter takes you to the next item to the allow you to rename that one if you so wish. It is so smooth and simple compared to After Effects' way of handling the same thing. Please provide an option to allow the same kind of workflow in After Effects. After all, the two programs should feel as one concise one. Currently little things like this make the two operate completely differently to each other -- they look and…

  2. bug report: "Link media" is broken, links to wrong files.

The only apparent way to replace your project's footage with color-corrected versions of the same files (for example) is to mark them all as offline and then relink them to the files in a different directory.

But if the new source directory you select doesn't contain a file matching a clip you're trying to relink, Premiere won't tell you; it'll simply relink the clip to an incorrect file in a different (the original) directory.

THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM. It results in WRONG MATERIAL going into your program, a professional liability and a ridiculous defect in an application of any…

  3. Option to disable auto-linking media

Auto-linking of media is causing me a lot of headaches and I just wish I could disable it.

Auto-anything is bad in general, especially when the user has no control over it and it happens automatically and without warning. Premiere's auto-linking has made a mess out of my projects just by opening them in a different location and then saving not realising it has tried to be smarter than it actually is.

  4. Projet Manager "Unknown Error"

Every time I try to project manage a project, I get the same unknown error. This started a few versions ago. Sometimes if I copy and paste the sequence into a new project it works, but not always. Please fix this bug!

  5. Now that you can open Merged Clips in a timeline, make it possible to convert Merged Clips to Multicamera Source Sequences

Another way to help make it so that projects that were created using Merged Clips will still have the powerful editing capabilities of a Multicamera Source Clip would be to be able to simply select and convert them in the bins.

  6. shared projects

Create a functioning Shared Project workflow for editors collaborting on shared storage that does NOT include importing new versions of all clips into every project they are used in.

This function must use some sort of master clip file or database that all attached shared projects reference for the shared project workflow to be viable.

  8. Put clips in the right order when dragging to sequence

In an older version of Premiere, if I imported 100 clips, I could click on clip #1 and then shift-click on clip#100, drag them to the sequence, and it put them in the right order.
Now, it doesn't. I've been through support on this and they are able to recreate the problem.
The "fix" is to click-drag-select the clips in the order I want, but when I have 100 clips, this really isn't easy. Plus... it used to work, now it doesn't. Now, it just puts them in a random order.

  11. Match Source Audio Layout in Project Manager

Often Project Manager will fail to trim clips used in a sequence when performing a Consolidate/Transcode. This can result in massive amounts of unnecessary media being copied. The most common culprit is a mismatch between the source footage and transcode preset audio layout. "Match Source" should apply to the audio as well as the video when performing this operation. Obviously, there are some codecs that don't support certain audio layouts, but when transcoding to Quicktime Apple Pro Res or GoPro Cineform, this should not be an issue.

  12. bug: new metadata entry erased on scroll up/down

If you type something into a metadata field and scroll up or down before hitting enter/return, what you just typed will disappear and be replaced with whatever was there before.

  13. Duplicate/copy-paste File - To current folder, not root

In the project window, if you duplicate a file/sequence whatever, or a copy/paste it, it creates the new file in the ROOT folder of the project.

I would love it to create the file in the Bin I'm currently in.

    Thank you.

  14. Fix disappearing mark comments on merged clips!

Whenever you open merged clips in your source monitor, all your marker notes disappear when you double-click the clip. Very annoying and time-consuming, and seemingly unfixable. It seems this has been a problem for awhile, please help.

  15. Keyboard Shortcut for "Edit Search Bin..."

Making it a bit easier to edit existing Search Bins: A keyboard shortcut.
There is already one for "New Search Bin".

How would it work: select your Search Bin then the KB Shortcut (as opposed to right-clicking for the context menu.

It's a small idea with big implications for people interested in the benefits of a metadata approach to project management over the traditional bin hierarch.

  16. Project from this directory/folder

To be able to create new project from this directory/folder.

So we have new project named by this directory name in this directory name and we have all the files imported from this exact directory.

    Would
    Be
    GREAT :)!

  17. Copy/paste metadata columns

    Yes, like in Avid...

In a perfect world, the bins of an NLE would be as powerful as a spreadsheet & database program.

So for a power user (e.g. an assistant editor managing a feature film with thousands of clips), any functionality to manipulate and organize the data is useful.

As far as UI design, can be easily implemented with highlight-a-column+copy/paste, or right-click on a column header.

  18. Plugin/re-link missing media cache drive when Premiere loads

I use an external SSD for my media cache, which occasionally gets unplugged from my laptop. If I forget to have this plugged in when premiere loads, I currently have two options.

    • I can force-quit Premiere, plug my drive in and reload premiere.

    • Or I can click 'ok' on the warning dialogue and my cache setting will be wiped and need to be reset in program.

I would love if the warning dialogue had a 'check for cache again' option, so that I could plug my drive in, instead of force-quitting or resetting to default.

  19. Don't delete renders when I change sequence settings

When I change sequence settings, it deletes any sequence renders. This happens even if those renders are still being used in other sequences. Now I have to re-render them everywhere else too.

Just give me the option to not delete renders.

Here's an example of how this happens. I have a sequence that I need to make an alternate version of using a different frame size and aspect ratio (it's enough of a difference that I can't just crop/pad during output, I need to re-position things). If I duplicate the main sequence and change the size, it now deletes my…

  20. Team Projects autosave functionality in regular projects

The autosave feature in Team Projects is just phenomenal—most notably how effortlessly and frequently it creates versions and the Time Machine-like way in which you scrub through them.

It is far superior to the standard Premiere way of saving a file at a set interval (and interrupting editing to do so) without any efficient way to scrub through version history.
