  1. Bug - Playback Completely Glitchy

Playback is totally screwy on this newest update. I noticed the issue becomes increasingly worse the more I shuttle using J-K-L to scrub through my footage. This is a huge issue since that is the primary way I have learned to quickly scrub. Upon a restart the issue goes away until I shuttle again at which point the playback goes kind of nuts and while the audio plays like normal, the video seems to be completely lost and switches between where it should be and some other random part of the video. Stopping playback doesn't even resolve the issue. Sometimes…

  2. Allow Proxies to Ignore Proxies Sound / Play Original Sound

Ran into trouble using proxies that were generated without the same number of audio channels as the original source. Developed a number of workarounds to compensate, BUTl..

...if it's technically possible would it not make more sense to play only picture from the proxies and sound from original sources. In the it's not sound that typically requires too much throughput. It's picture. So the idea here would be to kill several birds with one stone:

Eliminate the requirement for Proxy audio track counts to match those of the original -- in fact Proxies could be picture-only and save a bit…

  3. Scrubbing issues - Showing incorrect portion of footage

I am having series scrubbing issues after interpreting footage.

When I interpret 8bit .mov 60fps clips to 24fps from the GH5, the footage becomes completely useless. I can no longer scrub the footage and see the actual portion of the clip. The viewfinder shows the incorrect frame. Also, speed ramping interpreted footage completely breaks the clip and it no longer plays back successfully. I have to delete and then reimport the clip.

  4. 1/8 and 1/16 resolution in a 1080 sequence

Premier allows for 1/8 & 1/16 resolution playback within a 4K sequence, but limits 1080 sequences to a minimum of 1/4 resolution.

It is standard operating procedure to use 4K footage in a 1080 sequence. So it would really help to be able to lower resolution to ease the load on the processor.

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

  5. Major Bug With Speed Ramping

There is a major issue with Speed Ramping in the latest version of Premiere Pro 2020. I am unable to play back a simple clip that has a speed ramp applied to it in real time without pre-rendering it. When trying to playback a clip that is speed ramped, it turns into a glitchy mess, and the remaining clips that follow never start playing as they should unless I pause and restart the playback. This was never an issue in Premiere Pro 2019. I have re-downloaded PP2019 where the issue is no longer present.

I have found that it seems…

  6. BUG -Mercury Transmit will not use screen 2 in 3 screen setups on Mac OS 10.13.6

When using Premiere Pro 13.1 on multiple MacPros with 3 monitors attached, Mercury transmit will NOT allow Monitor 2 to be used for playback. When selecting Monitor two, Monitor 3 will automatically be selected. This behaviour does NOT occur with 13.0.3. Selecting alternate render options (Metal/CUDA/Open CL) does not fix the issue.

  7. Input delay using Blackmagic IO devices

Googling this has brought up threads going back to 2012, but no concrete solution in any of them. Contacting Adobe ends with "it's Blackmagic's fault". Contacting Blackmagic Design ends with "it's Adobe's fault." This has been an ongoing issue for years for many people and no fix in sight.

Using Premiere with a Blackmagic Design video IO device (Intensity Pro 4k and Avid Artist DNxID tested on my end), there is about a 5 frame input delay when playing back video. This is on two separate computers, specs for each at the bottom of this post. Disabling the IO device…

  8. Simultaneous Audio Playback via multiple audio devices

For example you have embedded audio via a black magic deck link card and want to do playback simultaneously using another soundcard (for example audio output via ASIO USB devices). This function would open up possibilities in playback and production surroundings using different ways and outputs. Having the option of only one output can be quite limiting.

  9. Multi-camera sequence not stopping playback on spacebar

In the playback of a sequence that contains any multi-cam clips or other GPU-intensive effects, Premiere will often not pause playback when either the spacebar or pause icon is pressed. The only way to stop playback is to force quit Premiere and reopen it. I am running the latest version 13.1.2 on Windows 10.

  10. RED IPP2 Implementation (April 2018): Major Dropped Frame Issues, Very Slow Performance Compared to v12.0.1, and Adobe Player Errors

I’ve been very excited for full RED IPP2 implementation to hit Premiere. However, when loading up older project files with footage using the Legacy Image Pipeline - I'm seeing about half the performance I did previously. A huge number of dropped frames and stuttering footage at resolution playback ratios that I haven't had issues with even the prior Premiere release (12.0.1). I’m also noticing similar performance for IPP2.

I’m running on an 18-core iMac Pro with Vega 64 and 64 GB of RAM, project playing back from a G-Speed 48TB Shuttle in RAID10. Needless to say, I’m on a fast…

  11. Latest Release 13.0.1 Playback has major delay when hitting space bar

When I try to play my timeline it takes over 5 seconds sometimes to begin playing. Afterward, playback is choppy and delayed. I'm in a project that was playing back without problems or delays in CC18. How can this happen? Unacceptable.

  13. In the latest update, 12.1.1, audio playback has become unreliable

Often, audio tracks will not play as video plays.

The issue can be solved by muting and then unmuting or soloing and then unsoloing channels. The problem is only present on playback, not on export.

I'm having issues with the playback, at some point it randomly freeze the playback, apearing a white or grey scren on program and soruce monitor. I've already tried:
    - switching the render to Software only
    - ereasing cache media
    - delete all plug-ins and preferences
    - upgrade premiere
    - completele uninstall and re-install Premier pro
    - format my computer

  15. Proxies with Merged Clips?

    Hi,

Do you have any plan to add proxy functionality for merge clips? What seems strange is that I can create proxies from merged clips, which link to the original source clips, but then when I turn on proxies, the merged clips still play back full res. This would be so, so useful for those of us who want to use both merged clips and proxies. Thank you for your consideration.

  16. Please improve variable framerate support

Programs like Shadowplay or more commonly -- video shot on phones record at variable framerates. I know that VFR support has been added in CC 2018, but it hardly works. Anecdotally, it has never worked to fix any VFR footage I threw at it (recorded with Shadowplay).

I absolutely love PP and the Adobe Creative Suite in general and I don't want to switch to another editing program. So, for CC 2019, please work on better improving VFR support!

  17. Set default playhead position not in center of timeline.

Set it to the left. I want to see more clips below playhead (on the right side) and less before playhead (on the left side)

  18. We need 1.8x anamorphic desqueeze!

Since we are using Vazen and Cooke 1.8x anamorphic lenses, we need to desqueeze it in Premiere! But there are only 1.5x or 2.0x possibilities! Please add 1.8 anamorphic desqueeze (aspect ratio)

  19. Toggle "Frame Replacement for Decode Errors" feature off.

In a QC critical enviroment, the red frame for decode errors was an incredibly helpful warning of potental corrupt frames in a file.
If this visual warning is replaced with a duplicated frame then the potential file issues become much harder to spot and/or more time-costly to verify.
If frame replacement is seen as a critically usful feature, please allow users to toggle it off/back to the old way.

With this new feature, Premiere updates past 13.0.2 become unusable in a QC environment/workflow, and users (us included) will be forced to switch to other software for critical evaluation.

  20. Scroll timeline, not jump

I think it would be much more useful if the timeline would scroll during playback, keeping the currently displayed frame in the center of the panel rather than having the timeline jump. It becomes very annoying when trying to edit video or audio when zoomed in all the way and the current frame jumps off the screen when you play back. Also the sliders are not very good. I think it would be more useful to have a zoom and a scrub slider. If the timeline is zoomed in all the way, and the project is more than a minute,…
