"I-frame first" fast seeking for inter frame compressed video files
When you are "seeking," (which means QUICKLY looking through a long video by clicking and dragging the playhead with the cursor,) there is sometimes very high "prefetch latency," meaning that frames will load slowly, resulting in very few frames being shown. This can make it very difficult to find what you're looking for.
But when seeking, perfect frame accuracy is not nearly as important as seeing what you're doing. Therefore, to reduce the "prefetch latency," I suggest that the nearest I-frame is loaded and displayed FIRST, (because I-frames are always the fastest to load) while the exact B or P…
164 votesHi Taran and everyone subscribed to the thread,
first of all: thanks for the incredibly detailed suggestion and the great conversation in the comments. While making such a change for the playback engine has a ton of implications and therefore isn’t done ad hoc, we’re certainly going to create a POC for it and will evaluate if there’s a way to put this into a production build for a test drive in an upcoming beta version.
I’ll keep you posted.
Cheers,

bug premiere pro 2020
bug report on premiere pro 2020: playback stop while playing on timeline and then display message: "A low-level excerption occurred in: Adobe Player (Player:11)" - then Premiere crash, and i have to force quit from force quit application. i'm working on a MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports), 3,5 GHz Intel Core i7,
336 votesWe do monitor User Voice; we share your disappointment that we don’t have a reproducible case, for this issue.
If you can reliably reproduce the ‘low level exception’ problem, on your system, please contact Support and provide them with any files and source media required for that repro case, as well as (important!) step-by-step instructions on how you can reproduce the issue.
We’re eager to pursue the issue further.

A button to help with broadcasting directly from the editing suite
There are cases in news broadcasting where you can not make it in time for your news piece to air and you have to broadcast live from your timeline via SDI for example. In this case it would be helpful to have an option or a button to help make Premiere ready for that so when you know you are going to broadcast live from your Premiere timeline you can just press that button and it automatically suppresses every action that could interfere with your broadcast, for example auto-saving. This would help with the pressure of situations like this and…

Improve scrubbing/fast forwarding performance with these 3 ideas!
Scrubbing and Fast Forwarding performance is often painfully slow.
Here's an example by Jayme Cowley Media Co. of scrubbing performance in Pr vs Resolve: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilPUc22itSA. The associated FR he posted mentions the problem but doesn't offer any specific solutions.
Here are 3 ideas that could greatly enhance scrubbing and fast forwarding in Pr:
SCRUBBING/FF RESOLUTION: In addition to being able to set the Payback and Paused Resolution in the Source/Program Monitor's wrench menus, it would be great to also be able to specify the resolution that's used when scrubbing or Fast Forwarding in the Timeline or Source Monitor. This…

Simultaneous Audio Playback via multiple audio devices
For example you have embedded audio via a black magic deck link card and want to do playback simultaneously using another soundcard (for example audio output via ASIO USB devices). This function would open up possibilities in playback and production surroundings using different ways and outputs. Having the option of only one output can be quite limiting.

Bug Report: Speed Issues in Premiere 2020
Any speed change that brings a clip over 100% speed results in choppy playback.

Bug PP 2020 Interpret Frame Rate results in scrubbing errors
On files where I change frame rate via "modify/interpret footage" resulting clips have errors while scrubbing on the timeline (skipping back and forth in file). If I simply change the speed via the speed setting on the timeline, the file scrubs fine. Any ideas? I made a video where I tried to show this happening:
Windows 10
CC2020 14.1.0
RTX2070 super 442.92 studio driver

Speedramp in Premiere Pro 2020 is a mess
Speedramping in Premiere cc 2020 let my eyes bleed like ****.
No smooth, but cruel lagging while playbacking the speedramped clip.
The rendered file however is fine.Fix that as soon as possible, before I went out of blood.

Bug in Premiere 15.0: Canon R5 8K RAW files crash Premiere
With Premiere 15.0 playing back Canon R5 8K RAW files results in a crash. It was working pretty good in Premiere 14.9, but after Premiere 15.0 update a total disaster. And now even after installing Premiere 14.9 problem persists. Before the update I was able to playback 8K raw files in full resolution with minimal dropped frames. Only selecting High quality playback usually resulted in a freeze or a crash.
My PC specs:
AMD 3960X
64GB
Nvidia 2080 TIOn my HTPC that has AMD 3900X, 64GB and Nvidia 3090 playback is fine, although it can only play in 1/2…

Add real-time rendering
There needs to be an option added to have background real-time rendering enabled for Videos and Effects. It is very annoying to manually render each item, or the whole timeline and wait long minutes (hours) for things to render on high end PC's. Apple's Final Cut Pro offers real-time rendering and makes workflow and playback MUCH easier.
3 votesIf the rendering is happening in the background, then it’s not ‘real-time’…?

BUG - Premiere Pro 14.6.0 FREEZE
It's happening more often than usual. To reproduce the error you must be working for a couple of hours within a file (large or small it doesn't matter). After a while it will freeze the entire software (including the mouse cursor) if you just hit playback - EVEN if you already pre-rendered that part (green bar is up).
Never had this problem before this update 14.6.0.
Also, Premiere just freezes when you hit playback, so if you manage to stop the playback you will be able to save your work and exit the program (which will not solve the issue).…

Scrubbing issues - Showing incorrect portion of footage
I am having series scrubbing issues after interpreting footage.
When I interpret 8bit .mov 60fps clips to 24fps from the GH5, the footage becomes completely useless. I can no longer scrub the footage and see the actual portion of the clip. The viewfinder shows the incorrect frame. Also, speed ramping interpreted footage completely breaks the clip and it no longer plays back successfully. I have to delete and then reimport the clip.

Premiere Pro 14.5: Rendered Playback Issues
Rendered playback set to FULL resolution does not always actually playback at FULL. Often drops to 1/2 or less frame rate and stutters.
Need to stop and restart playback numerous times for the software to actually engage full resolution playback.
Timeline is set to ProRes422 1920x1080.
Happens with both single GPU and with eGPU.
iMac19,1 with Vega48 with 128GB RAM, 3.6GHz 8-Core Intel i9.
macOS Catalina 10.15.7 (19H2).
RX5700XT is the eGPU when in use. This is NOT a drive speed issue. All drives connected are SSDs with minimum 450MB/s speeds. Scratch drive is NVMe with 2000MB/s. System drive is…

Space bar takes the preview back several seconds, instead of just pausing.
Bug Issue-- see subject. Space bar takes the preview back several seconds, instead of just pausing where it is at. Causes the previewing and key framing to get very confusing.

Flakiness - Refresh Mercury Transmit
Mac system.
If my system goes to sleep, and rewakes I have to turn my 3rd monitor back on. This is the monitor Premiere is set to use for transmit and it means that even though Premiere has Transmit enabled and the monitor checked in the preferences (if I open this dialog) the screen is not recognized or used by transmit.
Toggling transmit off and on does nothing.
What I have to do is open the pref dialog, uncheck the screen, uncheck mercury transmit, close the dialog, open the dialog, check the screen, check mercury transmit. Then the screen is…

RED 8k footage Program monitor playback bug Ver. 15.0.0
Working with RED footage in 15.0.0 is extremely choppy. Clips will play perfectly in source monitor, but when playing clip in program monitor/timeline the clip is unusable because of extreme stutter and choppy playback. Dropped frame indicator shows a lot of dropped frames. Using the same exact clip in PPCC 2019 plays perfectly in both source and program monitor with no issues or dropped frames. Ive been working with Adobe techs and have giving them as much info as possible to help resolve the issue.
I have pin pointed the exact issue and I have even created a video showing…1 vote
