BUG: Premiere is changing DSLR footage color upon import
When I import my Canon 80D footage into Premiere, heavy contrast is applied. The blacks or crushed and the whites are blown. I cannot recover the color data through color correction. The only way I can have my footage imported normally is if I import an After Effect Comp with the footage in it. I am looking for a solution inside Premiere so I don't have to create AEcomps for every clip. It affects both .mov and .mp4 files.

I also have communicated with Adobe Support and had them take control of my computer to discover the problem. They did not determine the cause of the problem. I rendered out video and even showed them the difference between the original and the output. Still they said the couldn't see a difference where I see an obvious difference.

I have tried the same video on an iMacbook Pro computer with updated Premiere and AE. There was no issue with the colors. This problem might be specific to Premiere on iMac Pro systems.

After Effects displays the colors correctly. Premiere doesn't. Why is this so?

This has not been fixed even though Adobe has claimed to fix this.

I have the media in one master project. My assistant has a their shared project. I open a small sequence from that project and drag the media from it it into my main project. EVEN THOUGH I ALREADY HAVE ALL THE MEDIA, I STILL GET DUPLICATED MEDIA. And on top of that it creates a separate folder for each small clip of footage. Take a look at the attached screenshot.

This is horrible. Fix this asap please. What's the point of shared projects if we can't move media back and forth between them?

I imported 60 mp4 files into a project, 15 of which were audio only. I tried every workaround I could find on the following pages:

I was using version 12.1.1 and have tried installing every version back to CC 2017 and have tried importing .mp4 and with the extension changed to .m4v, with the Mercury Playback Engine in both CUDA and software only, each time deleting all the media cache files between restarting the software.

I have been unable to transcode the files using Media Encoder as it too doesn't recognise the video and shows up as green.

in CC2017 version and 12.0.0 the files also appeared as green thumbnails, whereas in later versions I only saw the audio waveform icon in the thumbnail.

I tried to attach one of the videos affected by this but the smallest still exceeds 50mb so I cannot.

I am really disappointed with the lack of responsibility Adobe is taking for this issue. I pay about £45 a month for this suite of apps, mainly for video, and I am now unable to edit a video I shot last weekend as 25% of the content I shot is not working in Premiere.

Please advise!

When footage is imported, the metadata reads incorrectly, shifting the Creation Date and Date Time Digitized timestamp by several hours. It shifts by different amounts for different cameras. There is a long thread on this in the forums that has never been solved (https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2087685).

Adobe personnel remotely took control of my computer to diagnose and they too, were at a loss. Many people are having this problem. It makes editing in sequence with multiple cameras nearly impossible. There is also no workaround. All cameras were set to record date/time accurately and synced accordingly. Fix your bug, folks. It's been YEARS! For a bug regarding one of the most basic of editing techniques to be ignored for this long is pathetic.
