ANNOUNCEMENT - This forum is moving

In an effort to improve communications between you and the Premiere Pro team, we are moving this feedback forum to the Premiere Pro page on the Adobe Support Community. As requested, bugs and feature requests will be able to live separately in that forum.

This move is happening in part to acknowledge that we haven't been responsive enough here, and we are combining our forums to help remedy that. Ideas and their attached comments from this UserVoice forum will be migrated based on how many people voted for them. Check your profile on the Adobe Support Community to see any migrated posts that you've created or commented on. 1. Premiere DESPERETLY needs to have folder structure settings when dragging folders over

The 22.5 update really screwed the pooch for me but the problem is bigger, this is really an under maintained long running issue.

We need to be able to control how premiere behave when we drag folders that contain subfolders into the project.

up until 22.0, when dragging a folder, premiere would eliminate the subfolders and place all the files in the main folder, that was great for me but a problem for others, now with the summer update you switched things up and made premiere retain some of the folder structure, creating a mess in the project outline for…

  2. Bug importing folders by dragging them into Premiere

Using PP 22.5.0 when dragging a folder into a bin only some of the media inside will be imported. Also sub folders will only sometimes come in as bins, but other times the media will just be lumped into the parent folder. Previously the folder structure would remain as the bin structure. Media that does not import when dragging the folder into PP can be imported when dragged in individual files so it's not a media format problem.

  3. import media

    Hi,

I am reporting a bug related to importing media while creating a new project. I posted this originally over at Community Adobe (https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-discussions/create-project-without-importing-files/m-p/13193788#M429893), but was asked to posted it here too.

    Issue:
When I try to import media into a new Project the file browser in PP (22.6.2, Build 2) will only show the first file of the media library, see screenshot below. On the left hand side is macOS' (12.5.1) Finder showing correctly the content and on the right hand side PP's Import view showing only the first file.

    1. This issue has been around since maybe…

  4. Enable Proxy creation on the import screen.

Re enable Ingest with proxies in the import menu. in the new update, importing via proxies is no where to be found and the He;p/Wiki has nothing available on the update.

  5. Auto recover superwhites

Automatically bring superwhite levels to 100% on import.
Eg. S-Cinetone on A7siii records up to 109%, and you need to manually bring white levels down on each clip to match what was seen in camera.

  6. Maintain folder structures on import

Add an option to preserve empty folder structures on import!

Often I or an assistant editor will create a folder structure in the finder with empty folders to be populated with media later on in the production workflow (i.e. Final mix stems, color files, graphics). Currently if you import empty folders or folders with only one item in them, those empty folders disappear on import and the single item that was inside them is left outside any folder. This prevents planning and proper organization, and I'm not sure what the benefit of it is? Fewer folders? But I wanted those,…

  7. Way to import Frame.io comments into Premiere

Frame.io is great, however using it for the first time on a commercial I think I've found a glaring issue...

Shoot in the US, edit in London. Director spends his entire flight from NY on Frame.io adding comments to the rushes: favourite takes etc.

Great I think, I've already imported the footage, I'll look for the 'import comments button' and when he gets here I'll have everything ready.

    But no... nothing!

Turns out Frame.io can only syncronize comments from a sequence, not clips!

Now, I realise it's possible to view comments in the Frame.io panel, and that might be fine…

If you import the clips from Frame after the comments have been added you will get the clip markers.  But that not exactly the workflow you are describing.  You want to keep clip markers in sync with Frame.io comments so that you can turn Frame.io comments into clip markers AFTER the file has already been imported into Premiere Pro - right?  This a great point and something we will definitely be looking into.

  8. Link media by dragging and dropping from finder

On mac, you can for example: when you import, a window pops up for finder to select file to import. A huge feature with mac is the ability to drag and drop a file from finder to the window on a program and it will jump to that location. I wish there was a feature like this when re-linking media instead of going deep into folder by folder looking for the location to search the media.

  9. Image sequence import that skips missing frame numbers

When importing an image sequence, occasionally we have to delete a bad frame. That interrupts frame numbering, and when Premier gets to the skipped number, it stops importing. There needs to be an option for Premier to skip the missing frame and continue importing the remainder of the selected files.

  10. Audio not fully imported.

Since the latest update (PP 22.5) the import of audio from a camera fails.
I'm using mediabay and ingest to import files from my camera-card. This way I get one smooth video- and audiofile from the seperate MTS-files from the camera. After import the video has no problem but the audio is just taken from the first MTS-file and the rest of the file has no sound at all.
Fortunately I still have my old computer with PP version 22.4 and there doesn't this problem exist. So, I can import from the camera on that computer and edit it later…

  11. Import Media should create Folder, even when only 1 is in folder

Import Media will not create folders, if they contain only 1 file.
The files are put to the folder above ... thats NOT, what I expected.
All files are presorted into a folder structure, for coming from cams, audio devices or other sources.
I would like to import my complete folder struture with ALL folders, even when containing 1 file only
    Thank you
    Best Regards
    Bert

  12. Ingest already-imported media

It would be great if there was an option to run alread-ingested media through the current Ingest pipeline.

Currently it's possible to create proxies after-the-fact, but it would also be nice to be able to perform a copy & verify on original media that exists outside of the current ingest folder.

  13. Relative paths in ingest presets

Ingest presets should allow relative paths. I don't really want to dump media next to my project file, but rather somewhere else in the folder structure nearby.

The ability to set a path such as "../Media/Ingested" feels like a no-brainer.

  15. New Import Menu Should Have Project Panel Visible

The new import menu should have the project panel visible on the bottom right.

Most times you want to import items into already created bins/projects and there's no way to do that currently.

Would be a super handy feature to make the new import mode more powerful.

  17. New Import Tab Issues and Suggestions

    Hi team.

Just jumping in on the wave of issues in the new update and starting this thread to hopefully and constructively focus on the import tab.
But before that - Appreciate all the hard work and definitely don't condone hate speech, death threats etc...

Now given y’all don’t seem too keen to revert to the old ways - here are some issues and possible suggestions

Issue: Can’t create a sequence first and then add media.

Reasoning: I guess a lot of pros/orgs already do some media management first on larger projects and quite often the sequence settings is different…

  18. 'Open Project' Window and 'Import Window' freeze on latest version of Premiere Pro running on Windows 11.

This only happens on the latest Premiere Pro version. Whenever an explorer window is opened through Premiere, either while locating and opening a project or while using the import function, the window freezes and nothing happens. The only solution seems - open a project file directly by double clicking the project file and use media browser for importing. Because any instance of using the explorer window through premiere, causes Premiere to crash.

  19. La nueva ventana de importación desconoce si el footage esta en diferentes carpetas.

Debería ser opcional importarlo así o en las carpetas que el usuario estableció para distinguir el material.
