ANNOUNCEMENT - This forum is moving

In an effort to improve communications between you and the Premiere Pro team, we are moving this feedback forum to the Premiere Pro page on the Adobe Support Community. As requested, bugs and feature requests will be able to live separately in that forum.

This move is happening in part to acknowledge that we haven't been responsive enough here, and we are combining our forums to help remedy that. Ideas and their attached comments from this UserVoice forum will be migrated based on how many people voted for them. Check your profile on the Adobe Support Community to see any migrated posts that you've created or commented on. If you have an item here that did not make the migration, please bring it over to our new home.

See you soon on the Adobe Support Forum!

  1. Copying a *sequence* from another project does not ingest it's containing footage (transcode)

It's quite convenient than when simply copying footage from one open project to another, premiere-pro knows to ingest that footage (transcode), but for some reason, this is not the case when it comes to copying sequences.

While working on multiple projects that need similar footage and sequences, this is quite a time waster - that frankly could be probably fixed pretty easily.

    Thanks!

  2. Premiere Pro New Import Problem

    I am using Premiere Pro 22.4.0 on a MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2021)

Using the new import / create a project in the updated Premiere I copy my video files from an SD card to an external hard drive. I do this by selecting copy media on the right panel and selecting my external hard drive as the location. This usually uses Adobe Ingest and opens up Media Encoder which will automatically copy the files to the new location.

But I get an error in the Events: 'Invailed Copy Path' which means the files are not copied over.

    If I change…

  3. Import a corrected script as text file or doc for subtitles / captions

Import a corrected script as text file or word doc to be used for subtitles / captions. Sensei speech-to-text could then sync the already accurate text file or word document to match the narration in the sequence. Sensei is good but not 100% accurate, so when the corrected text is already available; it would greatly improve the production workflow.

  4. Pointing a file to a new/updated source

I needed to take over an edit for a day to cover for a coworker.

All I needed to do was to replace some footage that was being updated, render it and get it in front of the client.

I did so by selecting the footage in the Project Panel, right clicking & selecting "Replace footage..."
I pointed it to the updated footage (same everything except some OST had been changed in After Effects, let's call it v002)
Everything I expected to happen did, the file in the Project Panel reflects the new rev'd filename v002, the source in the…

  5. Read the marks created by the "Clip Flag" button on Sony cameras

A lot of cameras can do this but in my case, the FX6 has a button to save a clip flag which is embedded in the file. It would be great if Premiere could see this and show something in response.

This would speed up workflow by being able to quickly navigate to key moments in the footage.

Right now Premiere doesn't feature it, so that button on the FX6, one of the most popular cameras out there, is practically useless for Premiere editors.

  6. Play button in the import section

It would be nice with a play button on each clip in the import section to be able to wiew the clip in motion.

  7. Auto-selecting video clips on import is the absolute worst.

It seems whenever I am navigating this new super-clunky interface for importing that every visible file and folder is just automatically selected with no quick way to deselect. And often deselecting takes around 5 seconds per file, which is great when it selects hundreds of files automatically. This being the only way to get into a new sequence means it sometimes takes me 5-10 minutes just to get into my project. This is the absolute worst. The audacity for any software designer to force you to use their file navigator vs the system's dialogue is absolutely ridiculous. Please just completely…

  8. Proxy Workflow:

I think it would be a tremendous help if Premiere Pro )or Media Encoder= could automatically create a folder named after the open project when generating proxies. So it would be easy to identify the proxies when dealing with multiple projects.

  9. Can adobe read this codec : Linear PCM, Timecode, XAVC Intra codec. It's a codec from a sony fs7 that went through final cut.

When import within premiere you only have 4 layers of sounds, no video.

The only way I found to bypass this issue without losing too much quality was to transcode in apple pro res HQ within compressor. The only down with this method is that you lose the S or V log, which will be harder to colour grading down the line.

  11. Displaying timecode in Media Browser Thumbnail View and Import Grid View

When in Media Browser Thumbnail View, Timecode should be displayed along with duration....or.....allow larger thumbnail images in List View, which does display Timecode.

    Same for Import

  12. stop premiere from renaming my clips upon import

when i drag certain mxf files into premiere, it alters the name of the clip from whatever its called on the finder level to whatever its called in the metadata "package name". Bruce Bullis who works at Adobe confirmed theres no current way to fix this. not even bringing it in through media browser. the only work around i've discovered is right click on "frame rate" column to bring up "metadata displays", and then checkmark "media file name". and that displays it correctly (as opposed to the "name" column that displays it as something entirely different then what its called…

  13. Bug/Missing Feature: 22.4 Importing Time Lapse

Pardon if I'm completely out to lunch, but did the option to import and create a time lapse from image sequence get lost in the new import workflow launch? Doesn't seem to be much clear documentation on that front since the switch-over to the new layout in 22.4.x.

I could technically and jankily import to sequence 1-frame-duration images, but in the interest of maintaining sanity...

Either it's a I'm-missing-something-obvious issue, a feature-got-lost-in-the-mix issue or a documentation issue. Possibly all three.

    Thanks!

  15. Rendering anything out in After Effects causes Premiere to think all the dynamics linked items are offline

Rendering anything out in After Effects causes Premiere to think all dynamics linked items are offline.
    1. Have a Premiere project with a bunch of AE comps dynamically linked.
    2. Open up that AE project and render ANYTHING out using the render queue.
    3. Go back to Premiere and it will think all those dynamically linked objects are offline.
    4. Quit Premiere, and relaunch.
    5. Everything is fine.

This bug has been around for YEARS and I am blown away that it still exists. I honestly forgot about it till today.

Also note that there was no good option for…

  17. Attach proxies automatically does not work in V22

Attach proxies automatically does not work in V22. I just upgraded now this feature does not work. It only links the one file at the top of the list. I have MEDIA START checked. This has always worked. I tested it on the older version and I am correct. So this is a bug with the new version.

  18. I love the new import section, however...

There appears to be certain video files that don't show when using the new import page. In particular I couldn't see or preview .MOV files from my Mavic 3. I had to remember to import them separately afterwards using the original method of dragging into the project bin.

Screenshots show what I was able to preview on import from a specific folder as well as what was actually in the folder on Finder.

I hope what I'm saying makes sense.

    Thanks!

  19. Auto copy assets to project folder

    Hi,

For my projects, I still use a rigorous approach in copying all assets to a designated project folder before they are imported into a PPro project. This way, I prevent any assets from getting lost in the process, because they originated from temporary drives, download folders or other drives on your system beyond the project drive.

However, things would get a lot easier if PPro offered the possibility that anything that gets added to the project bin via drag & drop or the import feature, actually get copied over to the folder, perhaps as a background process. Meanwhile copying…

  20. Active capture from Dv

Premiere Pro 2022 works fine on a windows pc, but not on a Mac with the most recent OS.
I found out that you have stopped the possibility to capture DV but not HDV on the Mac
I guess that there are many besides me who have tons of dv films and want to convert them.
