  3. Add BBC/Netflix EBU-D-TT .xml subtitle export option

Adding this would allow to deliver series to Netflix or BBC through Adobe suite without any need for external subtitling software. At the moment you only export .stl .srt and .xml (but a smpte one - not a TT version) which aren't viable options for deliveries, especially not in the universe of SDH (Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing) for big platforms.

  4. Auto Reframe Affects Captions

Auto Reframe is great, but could you make it do to captions what it does to titles?

  5. Captions - Import Settings - Can't alter settings after caption file import

So, it's great that you can customize default settings for captions now but I am not a fan of how it was set up. In order to customize your settings you must set your "import settings" prior to importing your captions file. The problem I have is that I edit 2 versions of many of our videos. One to play on monitors in our stores across the US at 16x9 and another for social media in a 4x5 aspect ratio. In both cases the captions are burned in but, from what I can tell, once you import your captions using…

  6. Decode (608/708-A/53/DTVCC Transport) Closed Captions

Most Professional Broadcasters in North America are using this CC format and have been embedding it in MXF files.

Premiere is the only program I have found that doesn't decode this type of CC

I have attached a picture from MediaInfo showing that the CC is present on the file.

I also attached another picture from VLC (freeware) that also shows the CC is present.

  7. Proxy generation for media with closed captions

At the moment in Premiere Pro 2019, the option to create proxies from media with closed captions embedded is grayed out. Hoping this can rectified in that we deal with a lot of media that contains captions.

  8. Enhance captions by adding more controls

This idea is based on open captions.

I really like using Premier's captions because it's a very efficient way to add captions and edit them as needed.

However, there really seems to be a lack of editing controls to get what you need. For example:

    • There are no options to have super and subscript text.

    • You cannot adjust the position of the black bar.

I had a huge video and got all my captions set only to discover that I have to redo all captions manually since no superscript feature is available.

    Thanks for your consideration.

  9. Closed Captions Support Embedded in H.264 Files

    Hello.

We are providing live closed captions for hundreds of our live sports broadcasts. All these broadcasts are encoded H.264 and transmitted using RTMP. At the end of each broadcast, we're like to take our H.264 recording, and edit it in Premiere. Unfortunately, Premiere does not appear to support embedded captions in H.264 import or export. That's unfortunate, since this is now industry standard. I can take my H.264 file with embedded captions and upload it to YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and others, and the captions remain without any issues. Adobe Premiere is the only issue in this chain, which is…

  10. Open caption styling - unable to tweak line spacing and video size after import

Under the SRT import settings, two particularly useful settings cannot be change after import: video size and line spacing.

Changing the video size after import would be highly useful as sometimes a caption may need to be repurposed for different timelines. Alternatively allowing a caption to automatically resize and adapt to different timeline resolutions would be great - that way you could have the same caption file across different timelines without needing to import it 3 times with different settings.

Secondly, line spacing cannot be changed after import. If you set the line spacing to a particular percentage in the…

  11. Quality of SRT styled open caption when burnt into video

When importing an SRT in as an open caption and styling this, to then be burnt into a video, the output of the caption overlay is not of a high quality. There are harsh/jagged edges around the letters. A current workaround is to import the caption at a much larger font (e.g. 100), and then use a motion effect to downscale the whole caption size much further down in order to minimises the harsh edges.

  12. Feed scripts into Captions

Have an option in Premiere to load in a document (e.g a word document) which then completes the captions based on line by line.

Example: I have a transcript in word, I edit it so the lines are of a suitable length for captions.
I then load it into premiere, it reads the lines and loads them in as captions, with each line an individual caption piece.

Ultimate version would have a function where you listen along and press a button to mark where the next line should start and premiere auto adjusts the captions to fit.

  14. Time duration default for next caption added

The current time duration for next caption added is 1 second. err... I don't think anyone can read all text in 1 second. I don't really get how creator were thinking...

Is there a way for us to modify the "out" duration default for the next "add" caption ?

If not , please change default duration to be somewhere around 10-12 seconds .

    Thank you

  15. Bug: In Media Export, "set start timecode" option applies only to video and not to closed caption sidecar

The "set start timecode" option should also apply to a sidecar caption that goes with a video file.

  16. Caption + Audio Level Adjustment bug

Whenever I'm working on Closed Captions and I try to adjust the audio level, my cursor disappears and I can't work in the project anymore. I have to quit the program through keyboard input and start over again. It's a bug that has resulted in so much frustration and having to start over with projects. Please fix this!

  17. Caption editing crashes on auto-save

If you're editing an on-screen caption and typing at the exact moment the program attempts to auto-save, the app will freeze. Every time. Very reproducible bug.
If the text box for the caption is not selected, the auto-save works fine.

  18. Workflow working with captions

It is kinda difficult to work with the captions if you import text from a text tool, and there is no easy way of creating new captions, and you always have to move the playhead. Which makes it more difficult to time out your captions later on.

You either have to put in every text as you go along and "sync" it to the video. Or you first have to haphazardly put in the text, and then "sync" it to the video.

It would be better to able to easily import the text, and then being able to "sync" it…

  19. I would like to be able to rotate captions and move them wherever I like.

Currently I am unable to rotate captions like you can with other text. Also, I'd like to be able to move captions wherever I need them to. I believe there's a 10% safe margin in place to prevent me from moving captions all the way to the edge of the screen.

  20. Add Dutch to the transcribe languages!

Please add Dutch (and other languages) to the transcribe functions. I am working on a documentary and it would be very helpfull so I can send the transcribe of the full recordig to the directors and they can send me (as an editor) back which parts of the interviews need to be used.
