  1. Proper subtitling/captioning tools

After trying out the new captioning in Beta, I'm fairly disappointed. This does not solve any of the issues I've had earlier – it basically just serves as a shortcut for the current shortcuts one can do via EG in AE. What I miss:
    1. I would like to have the option of having background per line (not one big rectangular for all text)
    2. I would like more freedom in designing the look of the subtitles (shapes, rounded edges, animations etc.)

  2. Make the Captions checkbox on export automatically turned on if there are Captions in the video

Okay, so your like me and you just finished a long days edit with captions and you're about to export a large file, you know it's going to take hours to export. After all that time, you review the export and low-and-behold, no captions. YOU FORGOT TO PRESS THE TURN ON CAPTIONS BUTTON EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE CAPTIONS IN THE VIDEO! Adobe, if there are captions in the timeline being exported, the captions option in the export settings should be automatically checked. I can see why it is uncheck by default as to help the editor decide what kind of…

  3. Match Frame Captions to the Captions Panel

It would be great to add a function similar to match frame for clips, but for captions.

If I have a caption change that needs to be applied to an edit, I have to first match frame the caption clip from the Timeline, which'll then open in the Source Panel. From here I can see the clip's source timecode.

Next I have to scroll thru the Captions Panel referring to the In and Out points until I come across the caption referenced in the Source Panel. From here I can make my edit change.

My solution would eliminate this search…

  4. Duplicating open captions - making edits on duplicate shouldn't affect original

When you duplicate an open, burned in, caption, the edits you make on the duplicate affect the original. In my situation, I need to make captions in multiple languages. So if I were able to duplicate a caption, put the duplicate on a track above, and edit the new caption according to the pacing and text blacks of the original caption clip, that would save a ton of time. Instead I have to start from scratch in each language.

  5. captions bug with styles while adding multiple captions

Hello. I think it's a bug in premiere, can't explain it otherwise.
The problem is in captions window. I use File-New-Captions-Open Captions-Square Pixels. Then I start adding captins using Captions window and "+" Button. For the firt 3-4 pieces styling works fine, style of captions looks mire oe less the same (black bacground, positioning), I just need to adjust size. But when I push + Button for the 3-4 time suddenly black backgrpund is not there anymore and I can not turn it on. "Backgound color" button does not show anything.

  7. Allowing full text adjustments to be made to captions.

Currently premiere automatically puts giant kerning in captions ... why? why would this ever be prefereable especially in a feature that allows very limited text controls. Costing me money.

  8. open captions padding

The padding around text on open captions is not uniform. The spacing above the text is far greater than below the text causing significant problems. See attached png..

  9. Make Subtitling Easier

What about having a tool that makes subtitling easier. If you could import a textfile with gaps between the text that belongs together and having a shortcut that hits a new subtitle in whenever you hit it. You could easily read your translated text, see when the speaker starts speaking (on the audio track) and after watching the whole video for once, just hit enter and everything will fall in place. That would be amazing!!!

  10. Make Caption exporting available from more menu options

It's very difficult to find how to export Captions. It's ONLY available if you highlight the item in the Projects display window as a right click or from File > Export.
It is NOT available when the captions are highlighted in the Timeline.
It's greyed out as an Export option if you don't have this project item selected.
It is not available through the Media Export ... as you cant switch off Video and Photo.
    - Can it be available and not greyed out if you have a caption track (if you had more than one caption tracks you could…

  12. Closed Caption issue on 708 and 608

I use Maccaption and Caption Maker to produce Closed Caption.
When I import the .MCC file in premiere, there are some problems. Like:

When I select 608 CC in premiere, some accents are lost, for example: "por quê você" It appears like this in Premiere "por quê voc". When I select 708 CC it loses the positioning made in Caption Maker. Lines on bottom appear on top, lines in right appears on left. I don't know ow what to do anymore, I asked Telestream support, but they say that is a issue is Premiere Pro, Adobe doesn't give any answered.…

  14. Make captions not be buggy to the point of uselessness.

What everyone else said 1000 times. Why put a feature in the software that just makes everyone hate you because it's useless?

  15. Auto Reframe Affects Captions

Auto Reframe is great, but could you make it do to captions what it does to titles?

  16. Captions - Import Settings - Can't alter settings after caption file import

So, it's great that you can customize default settings for captions now but I am not a fan of how it was set up. In order to customize your settings you must set your "import settings" prior to importing your captions file. The problem I have is that I edit 2 versions of many of our videos. One to play on monitors in our stores across the US at 16x9 and another for social media in a 4x5 aspect ratio. In both cases the captions are burned in but, from what I can tell, once you import your captions using…

  17. Decode (608/708-A/53/DTVCC Transport) Closed Captions

Most Professional Broadcasters in North America are using this CC format and have been embedding it in MXF files.

Premiere is the only program I have found that doesn't decode this type of CC

I have attached a picture from MediaInfo showing that the CC is present on the file.

I also attached another picture from VLC (freeware) that also shows the CC is present.

  18. Proxy generation for media with closed captions

At the moment in Premiere Pro 2019, the option to create proxies from media with closed captions embedded is grayed out. Hoping this can rectified in that we deal with a lot of media that contains captions.

  19. Bug when exchanging captions via "Replace Footage..."

When trying to replace an .srt file with an updated one (which is very common e. g. after a typo has been found and corrected), the file will not actually update in the timeline. My specific file got replaced in the project panel (I can open it in the captions panel and see the changes there) but it does not update in timelines, or at least not every time! In those cases when I'm not involved in the review process for the captions, it is almost impossible to figure out if the file was replaced correctly, because I don't know…

  20. Control leading in Open Captions

It would be super if i could control the Leading (vertical distance) between two sentances in Open Captions.
At this time if i break an Open Captions sentance in two there is no way of controlling the vertical distance between the two parts.
The default leading is too big in most cases depending on the font which is used.

    Thank you.
