Subtitle render in parts
Please, fix this!
When I have a almost finished any project and I have to correct any text in my subtitle my project loses all my render preview. It's terrible! Please, create a solution for render captions individually.
Today, for example, I had a seventeen minutes project with linked comps, graphics and a adjustment layer with film convert... Then, I saw a one-letter-mistake and after change that, bum! My render work down... It's terrible! Is a nightmare....

Not all installed fonts work in Captions
Not all fonts seem to work with the caption tool. Fonts that might work perfectly in the standard type/text tool will simply not work when trying to use them in Open Captions.
They just don't seem to register. Although you can select the font from the drop down menu, the actual text doesn't update (note that this is not the same as the usual "captions don't update" issue.). It's as though the font doesn't exist.
I have no idea why this happens, as these same fonts work perfectly everywhere else (within Premiere, and in any other application I have tried…

Using in-out marks in Captions
When subtitling with captions I have to go through and manually enter the subtitle in-out points. Could these not be copied from the timeline in-out points? This would make the process quicker, smoother and less likely to end up with a subtitle that does not fit properly because the captions panel has corrupted and ignored the manually entered numbers.

Closed Captions
I’d like for Adobe Premiere to have the capability to read captions from .mpg files. Thank you.
1 voteWe are looking into this but wanted to let you know that we have completely redesigned the captioning workflow in Premiere Pro version 15.0. You will see many other dramatic workflow improvements. Please update to the latest version.

P2 Movie export with embedded closed caption
Embedded closed caption in P2 card is integral to our Post Production workflow. However, the only way to do that is to master the project to P2 Card using Panasonic P2 deck via baseband SDI through edit to tape. By exporting directly to P2 card via P2 Movie, we have no feature to embed the closed caption to the video. Only sidecar and burn-in.

spanish
In spanish "Open Captions" should be listed as "Subtitulos abiertos" instead of "Abrir subtitulos"

SRT Open caption styling - choosing a font weight in the import settings
Whilst you can define a custom font in the SRT import settings, it would be great to also choose a custom font weight. Currently this has to be changed via the captions editor after import. If you have a font family, you may have several font weights and there is room for error if you forget to select the correct font weight after import.

Home and End keys do not work as expected when editing caption text.
They jump to the start/end of the entire list of captions rather than the line of text, even while the text box has focus. Please fix this; it makes it extremely time consuming to add proper line breaks to captions.

Captions are not aligned
While making subtitles using "Caption" changed the font from Arial to Gilli San and texts appears in the bottom of the Black Bar. Found no option to make it middle align. Please fix this problem.

Premiere Pro CC (CC 19 13.0.2) still shifts captions randomly on the timeline
Captions on a timeline might stay in their place for three or four times saving, exiting and restarting Premiere, but then all of a sudden their in and out points CHANGE, not being in sync anymore. This is an old bug and it is still not fixed, working with subtitles that are burned into the video is basically not possible this way!!

Add option to keep spaces at end-of-line in imported captions/subtitles
When importing captions, apparently trailing spaces at end-of-line are automatically removed. Due to a bug (I have just reported it), partly opaque background behind the captions are not lined up properly at the right side, placing the edge of the rectangle too close to the text. This can be redeemed by putting an extra space at the end of each line of text, but because they are automatically removed during import, this must be done manually. Very cumbersome! It would be easier to add the space using other software before import and retain it.

SRT file edits are not appearing in timeline.
Background color and size changes appear in the Captions panel but NOT in the timeline. All was well earlier today. I closed project, reopened, and now the SRT file cannot be edited.
Earlier issue was I edited SRT file, change appered in timeline as expected, but change would not appear in the export via encoder.
Restarted, solved that problem, but then the bkgnd color and size appear to resist being edited.
In attached screengrab, note captions panel with red background on left, and Program panel in right, with Black background and small font.
Generally, captions are ****** in Premier. Very…

captions continue past the end out point in edit.
Captions from a previous clip, or sequence, still remain visible past the end point out of the edit. See attached file. This has been a constant issue in every new version of PPro. PLEASE FIX this and if possible, try to include more options for kerning in the text.

Caption missing features
Some features are missing within the new caption system - it used to be simple to assign two different colours to captions within the same point in time, but can't be done anymore - yet can be done with things like italics. Many companies use subtitles with colour guiding to signal who is speaking. Also the new command to flick to the start or end of captions using cmd, opt + up or down doesn't go to the end of the newest caption, so you manually have to move your cursor there every time.
