Allow me to save custom caption templates
Most of my projects require open captions for exporting, and I'm required to use my company's specific visual identity guidelines for these captions (specific font, specific background color / opacity, specific alignment). As it currently stands, I have to set all of these parameters manually for every project. It would make so much sense and save so much time to be able to store these settings as a preset.
Someone suggested I use the "import settings" button along with a "dummy" srt file to hold the settings, but doing that for open captions does not allow me to use the…

Flexibility to move captions
It is very painful to use captions while still editing a project. Every time you make changes like adding a new scene, you have to move each caption one at a time to accommodate for new captions. Can you please make captions movable the way other clips are, whereas you can select a bunch of them at once and move them on the timeline as needed?

Subtitles Duration
If we want to create real subtitles, we need to have a visibilty on the duration of each legends. Right now we have to calculate it from the In/out point. It's so bad. If Adobe could also add a charactere counter (with space)... it will become truly usefull !!!

Please allow for line spacing within closed captions
It would be very useful to be able to increase or decrease line spacing within the captions tool.

Add translucent background effect for closed captions.
While Closed Captions shows the option for a translucent background, I can't select anything except for opaque. This makes it difficult for my viewers to see what's going on behind the captions. Research showed that this is a wide-spread problem.

Enable keyboard shortcut modification for captions
Enable keyboard shortcut modification for captions. There's currently no easily identifiable way to commit text in captions; when you press enter/return it just goes to a new line, and when you press esc, it deletes everything you've just entered. There should be an option to reassign the esc key to commit text, to bring the caption shortcuts in line with the graphic/titles shortcuts & the shortcuts for the captions window should be easier to find within the program, along with the Adobe website. This suggestion has been previously implemented in Photoshop, and was received well by the community.

Fix the captions effects. I don’t pay over 100 dollars a month for a big pain in the butt!
I import open captions that are a .srt file. Before a recent update I could edit them and they would update on the fly, now I have to render them just to see my changes and most of the time it refuses to actually make the changes! Most of my time issue today fiddling with the captions to make them work and not actually editing my project. It worked perfectly fine before the last update, why do you continue to go backwards adobe?

Export Subtitles for Corrections
Export speech to text transcripts and subtitles so Print Publishers can edit the correct spelling, names and so on when Adobe Speech to Text doesn't translate correctly. Then allow the editor to re import the corrected transcript and create corrected sub titles and captions from corrected transcripts.

Always keep captions visible in the Captions window
When working on captions, deselecting the captions clip in the Timeline (or selecting any other clip) makes all of the captions disappear from the Captions window. An empty Captions window is of zero benefit to editors and is an annoyance since it gives editors the added step of having to re-select the captions clip in the Timeline before they can continue to work on captioning.
My suggested solution is simple. Please always keep captions visible in the Captions window, whether the captions clip is currently selected in the Timeline or not. If the Timeline has 2 or more captions clips,…

Export open captions via AME
Fix the software so that we can export a video containing open captions via AME without the captions disappearing in the exported video.
Adobe staff on other threads say this has been fixed with CC2019. It hasn't. This problem has persisted for Y E A R S.
Yes, I have dynamically linked AE clips in my projects. Yes, I have "burn captions into video" selected. Yes, I have "import sequences natively" selected in AME.
No, I don't have captions in my final videos.

Closed Captions - Lagging, Render Time
In the latest update of Premiere Pro (2019, 13.0) the captions display 8 frames later than they should in a 59.94 fps sequence.
In addition, the previous version of Premiere took minimal time to render the captions, both the for the initial render and after any changes were made. In 2019/13.0, the render time is just as long as rendering the whole sequence without captions. This includes renders after any changes have been made to the captions.

Captions Idea
The captions tool is annoying, and although it is faster than manually writing an SRT file, it's still not optimal in terms of speed. It's definitely slowing us indie houses down.
What would be ideal, is if the whole captions panel was one big box, in which you could paste the whole text body, and then through editing create the breaks, where the next line should come in.
This could easily be achieved with a simple STOP button and GO button and it'd work similar to multicam.
Think of it like an auto-cue, that can be paused when there is…

Open Caption duplicate only working after restart
Bugreport: I duplicate an open caption, to use its style and formatting on a other timeline in the same project. When I drag it into the other timeline, I can edit the captions, but nothing happens in the programscreen. The old caption stays visible.
I have to restart Premiere Pro to see the changes made, and only then it works fully functional.6 votes -
Open Captions - Italic tags <i>...</i> not recognized on two lines of text
When I import an .srt file with all some of the text italicized, I see <i>...</i> tags instead of italics in the burned-in subtitles.
When there is one line of text or one word tagged it comes out as italic.
When the whole sentence is marked as italic and it's on two lines, Premiere Pro doesn't recognize the tag and displays in in Regular font
with <i>...</i> tags.In order to display italics on both lines of text in one subtitle, each line has to be tagged <i>...</i> separately.
Please, fix the error, so when a whole block of text…6 votes -
Show duration of individual captions in Caption Work Panel and when mouse pointer hovering over a single caption in Time Line.
Since captioned dialogue typically is preferred to be on screen for about 0,3 sec/word (acc. to BBC guidelines) it would be a great help if you could see the duration of each caption when hovering over a caption and in the Caption work panel rather than just the in- and out points. My brain really hurts :-D when I'm trying to calculate the length of each and every caption in a full length film. Thanks and have a nice day!

Closed captioning in/out points change after save
The in and out points change after the project file is saved. For example, if I trim a caption to end at a video cut, the next time I load the project, the outpoint have moved and the caption ends a couple of frames before the cut...

After several font changes captions stop previewing
Noticing that if you make changes to the fonts and then keep tweaking, eventually Premiere just stops updating the preview of the captions and you need to close Premiere and manually clear the caches to solve.
Also finding that the drag to zoom will often get stuck in that target cursor mode not allowing you to do anything except restart Premiere to get your cursor back.
Overall the whole caption system in Premiere is pretty buggy.

Re-enable free x-positioning of open captions (this worked in PPro2017)
This refers mainly to open captions for non-TV usage.
The position of captions does not allow for negative values anymore. So we are stuck with the left margin (x=0) being roughly at the standard "title safe" position. However, if your project is not limited by TV-standards and you want to use the entire screen width for subtitling, you can't. Any title will just go offscreen on the right with no way to re-center it. This was working in CC 2017 when PPro yould accept x values below zero. Please change this back again.

Need ability to export transcripts, and subtitles
Ability to export transcripts and subtitles to a document. Then a content editor can fix names, spellings and punctuation that Adobe speech to text misses.
