  1. Transcript in Chinese

Cantonese not equal to Traditional Chinese. The Traditional Chinese is also Mandarin but is the traditional version of the simplified one. Cantonese is another language system. In short, there are two type of word represent Mandarin. Traditional and Simplified. Cantonese looks like traditional one but not even in the Mandarin system. It's like Japanese Kanji. Go google it and you will know what I mean.

  2. Captions 708 output doesn't respect the timeline timecode (Premiere Pro 2021 v15.1 and v15.2)

    Hi,

When outputting both 608 and 708 captions in a XDCAM-60i MXF OP1a with embedded closed captions, the 608 captions output is fine, but the 708 are offset by 6 frames when compared to the timecode in the Premiere Pro timeline.

This is the same problem since Premiere Pro 2019, still have to use 2018 to export MXF with 708 in the right place.

Workflow is an imported MCC file from MacCaption (29.97 drop frame) output to XDCAMHD 4:2:2 50Mbps NTSC MXF OP1a.

Output file is tested both with Telestream Switch and Premiere Pro (output file imported back in a…

  6. Captions performance

Premiere 15.1 longform projects with closed captions can be very slow and laggy. Seems like there's a lot of work under the hood that needs to happen.

  7. Premiere is messing up 608 caption formatting on export

When I export MXF OP1 files with embedded 608 captions, Premiere seems to randomly move some titles to the left or right side of the screen in the exported file. Upon closer inspection, Premiere seems to be breaking up multi-line captions into separate elements per line, and then plugging in bizarre align and transform values for them. There seems to be no way to format 608 captions for MXF OP1 export that results in a predictable output. Any help or advice on this would be appreciated. I'm on Premiere 2021 with Mac 10.14.6.

  8. Subtitles accompany Rolling Edit tool

Congratulations on the new captions workflow.
The Transcribe tool is very competitive compared to many of the alternatives on the market.
I tested it in PT and ENG and it works great.

In previous versions of Premiere captions were treated as video.
In Premiere 2021 15.0, they appear as Essential Graphics.
I'm editing a documentary in which the characters speak several languages I don't understand (Russian, Danish, etc.)
    1) How can I, in this new version, get the subtitles to accompany (e.g.) the use of the Rolling Edit tool ?
    2) When I'm reviewing the subtitles, it would be useful…

  10. New Text/Captions workflow : UX Improvements - it's kinda great, but kinda horrible.

The new Captions/Text tool on Premiere 15.0 is a huge improvement to the old workflow which was very buggy. I'm impressed with the quality of the Transcript in French, which recognizes 95% of the words correctly (even names). A big thanks to the team who developed it !

But working with subtitles every day, we saw that it also slowed us down on certain aspects which are very frustrating.
Here is some suggested UX improvements by priority :

1 - Make the formatting of the text the same between "edit mode" and "view mode".

In the current tool, you have…

  11. Duration edit for captions

It would be nice if the duration of captions could be changed via the shortcut menu > Duration, just like with other types of items.

  12. Transcript Timecode Incorrect in Custom Timecode Sequence

After transcribing a sequence in a custom timecode starting at 00:59:49:00, the resulting transcription gets thrown to an hour later. Does the same with captions.

  14. Request for ability to further edit captions with subscript and superscript

This is a small thing, but I make videos for engineering and manufacturing companies. The interviewees use a lot of scientific terms and measurements. At the moment I can't subscript the '2' on CO2, for example; or superscript the '3' on m3 (metres cubed). It may seem trivial, but to my clients - and their specialist audience - it makes a big difference! I am sure there must be other video-makers out there facing the same issue with other specialist terms.

  15. Transcript to Caption not working

The auto captioning feature has been working well fo rme up until this week. Now when I transcribe a video, I am unable to create captions from it. There is a blue wheel that continues to spin without stopping, and the transcript is never turned into captions. Please Help.

  16. Closed captioning encoding options

The improvements to the captioning system and the transcribe feature are great, but for broadcasters (this one, anyways) exporting an MXF file with closed captioning encoded doesn't seem to produce the desired effect on air.

For instance, a file we get from another source says the text stream is encoded as "A/53 DTVCC Transport", whereas anything I export out of Premiere says "Ancillary data/CDP" and doesn't seem to translate to closed captioning in our broadcast. The option to select DTV captioning and ensure that a file is broadcast ready would be amazing.

  17. Bug:Premiere Pro Caption effects

608 and 708 the only effect that works is Pop-on. Paint-on, Roll-up 2-4 all just act like Pop-on.
I tested the paint on issue by rendering the queue, exporting the video, opening the project in multiple computers and doing the same. No matter what I did, in ver 15.0 all of those effects only act as pop-on.

  18. Restore abillity to define default caption import settings

In previous versions, you could define the import settings for captions. If you did that, and then updated to 15.1, you now have no ability to change it. So for the rest of time every time I open captions they will first import as "century gothic size 40 open captions" unless I go back to an earlier version and change that.

It's fairly easily deal with the "style" and change that after import. But there were many other elements to the previous import settings dialogue. In any event, getting a) import settings and/or b) controlling the default import style would…

  19. include a symbol that shows when you are connected to the creative cloud servers for transcribing and future features that need connection

the icon in the top right has a connection feed when connected to the cloud and a disconnected feed when not connected to the cloud servers.

  20. View more than one caption track at once.

I'd like to be able to view more than one caption track at once in the new Captions workflow (Premiere Pro 2021 v15 and on).

In my case, I'm creating both English and Spanish subtitles as separate SRT files, and it would be helpful to be able to have both visible at once, on different parts of the screen, so that I can match the timing of each track.
