ANNOUNCEMENT - This forum is moving

In an effort to improve communications between you and the Premiere Pro team, we are moving this feedback forum to the Premiere Pro page on the Adobe Support Community. As requested, bugs and feature requests will be able to live separately in that forum.

This move is happening in part to acknowledge that we haven't been responsive enough here, and we are combining our forums to help remedy that. Ideas and their attached comments from this UserVoice forum will be migrated based on how many people voted for them. Check your profile on the Adobe Support Community to see any migrated posts that you've created or commented on. If you have an item here that did not make the migration, please bring it over to our new home.

See you soon on the Adobe Support Forum!

  1. Transcription spell checker does not respect English(UK) spellings

So the automatic spell checker when set to English (UK) is retaining a lot of US based spellings for a number of words, particularly -ize and izm instead of -ise and -ism, behavior instead of behaviour, etc.

  2. Tamil Language should also be added for transcribing and creating captions for videos

Premiere Pro comes only with few language options for the purpose of creating captions - English, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Hindi etc.
Please add TAMIL language as well.

  3. Ability to insert and edit pauses (...) when editing speech to text / captions

The speech to text function saves a lot of time, but it needs improving.

When editing the speech to text transcription in the text window, before generating captions, it would be really nice to have some level of control over over the "pauses" that it automates and inserts.

It's really unwieldy; for example: sometimes I edit a misheard/automatically generated text which is directly next to these pauses, like the beginning of a new sentence, and as a result the pause just disappears entirely, creating confusion for the system when it actually generates the caption track.

  4. Allow transcripts panel to export SRT or allow 0 second minimum caption duration

I want to split up my auto-transcript into words and apply those as captions that come on word by word as they're spoken (as is often seen in tiktoks these days). I can manually cut it up into individual words, but the problem is creating captions directly from the transcript enforces a minimum duration of at least 1.2 seconds. (I tried to attach an example video but i guess it was too large) The workaround would be to export the transcript and reimport it in the captions panel, but neither the txt or csv files it can export will correctly…

  5. I would like to be able to rotate captions and move them wherever I like.

Currently I am unable to rotate captions like you can with other text. Also, I'd like to be able to move captions wherever I need them to. I believe there's a 10% safe margin in place to prevent me from moving captions all the way to the edge of the screen.

  6. "number" is always translated as "no" with transcribe

the new transcribe/captions function works great but always transcribes the word "number" or "numbers" as "no" which makes sense as an abbreviation but should always be spelled out for transcript purposes.

  7. Warn the user when text is overset in captions.

I'd find it really useful if the captions tool could give some sort of little visual indicator when text is too long for the field and is cutting off - similar to how InDesign warns the user about overset text.

  8. Add "import script" to cross-reference auto-generated transcript.

The auto-generated captions feature recently added is wonderful! I look forward to seeing some of the UI streamlined in the future.

My idea is this: in the transcription menu, add an "import script" option (or call it whatever) where you can copy/paste text (preferably rich text) for the program to cross reference with it's auto-generated transcription. The program already does a surprisingly good job, but this could ensure 100% accuracy for videos with pre-scripted content. Paired with the automatically timed captions, this could be a very useful addition!

  9. flexible start point for transcript timeline

if you are editing multiple videos in one project as sections of a larger compilation then at this point it is not possible to export an srt file for each individual section as the content will be timestamped to the entire project instead of per the In and Out markers which designate the video component which is being exported. It would be great if the user could designate that the transcript start point should be the same as the In marker on the project.

ie: video #2 starts at 10 minutes so the transcription that relates to video #2 starts…

  10. captions unsyncronize

After I modified the transcript of a sequene and make captions from transcript. The captions are unsyncronizes in the wrong place. After edit the transcript Adobe premiere should inspect to find the text entered in the video and place it in the right place. Also, a posibility to enter the transcript that we want and premiere analize it and place it in the corrent timecode could be an amazing feauture.

  11. Add Dutch to the transcribe languages!

Please add Dutch (and other languages) to the transcribe functions. I am working on a documentary and it would be very helpfull so I can send the transcribe of the full recordig to the directors and they can send me (as an editor) back which parts of the interviews need to be used.

  14. Fix the Closed Captioning Ghosting in Premiere Pro

Since the new 2021 version, Even with closed captioning tracks turned off, a ghosting closed captioning still appears on the program monitor. I've even gone as far as deleting the closed captioning tracks off of my timeline, yet the ghost closed captioning still remains in the Program Monitor. I;ve seen several reports beginning about a year ago, yet I see no attempts from Adobe to offer a patch or a fix.

  15. Captions in 2022 are broken: Import SRTs does not import timecode

When importing an SRT file in Premiere Pro 2022 the whole file is imported as a single caption line - the timecode included in the SRT is disregarded, defeating the whole use of the SRT file import in the first place.

  16. BUG REPORT

For one file in one folder, the "transcribe" worked.

For a second file in a second folder, the "transcribe" feature did not work.

The first folder had this name: 2021-09-20

The second folder had this name: 2021-09-30 - last one here

When I changed the name of the second folder to this, it worked: 2021-09-30

  18. Subtitles workflow is still laggy and buggy.

I would like to thank Adobe for listening to the community and greatly improving the subtitles workflow. It's still not perfect, but at this point I feel confindent to permanently move all my subtitling work to the dedicated Subtitles track.
I especially apreciate how consistent the essential graphics styles have become, as they can push not only fonts and sizes, but also positioning to the entire project. I even wish EG styles would be this easy to work with in regular clips.
The Text panel, however, is still very laggy and buggy to the point where I'll barelly even use…

  19. V22 608 caption blocks run together.

V22 608 captions have issues with line breaks. Two back to back caption blocks will export as one, and consequently, characters are missing because the new "merged" block exceeds the 32 characters per line limit. We cannot use this version for our caption purposes at AMI, until this issue is resolved.

  20. Transcript: Continue search from playhead

When I search for keywords in my transcript and find what I need, I like to take that clip and put it in a selects sequence. But when I return to search for more keywords, it searches back from the start of the transcribed sequence.

It would be great to have the option to continue search from playhead.
